Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Is It Worth the Wait?

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, an all-new Land, is now open! Oh, yes! All of the Star Wars fans out there UNITE and BE READY for this one. You can live your Star Wars Adventure in a Galaxy Far, Far Away. As you can imagine the lines are long for this new land. Long, long… really long. After visiting the land I immediately started getting asked questions about it, but the most common?

Is Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Worth the Wait?

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge - Is it Worth the Wait

In short. YES. The wait is 100% worth it.

Before I go much, much further, let me share this with you. I only became a huge Star Wars fan after I had my 4 sons. My dad would always watch the movies when I was growing up, but I never really took to it until I had my own sons. My husband was a huge Star Wars fan as a kid and he shared that same love with his sons very early on.

I actually remember when we got our 1st family van it came with a DVD hook-up, which was huge for us back in 2008. We bought the series of DVDs for the boys and they would watch them all the time in the car. It got to the point where I joked that I could easily recite the movie by just reciting the lines!

I was excited to hear that Disney was creating a Star Wars LAND when they first announced it because I just thought of my sons. I thought of how excited they would be to feel part of the Star Wars magic. To be able to actually see it up close and personal… just surreal. Yes. Worth the wait. Definitely worth the wait. Yes. Yes. Yes. Let me tell you why it’s so worth it.

We got to tour Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at 5:45AM in the morning. It was an amazing to be there when the Park was not open. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was to walk through the Land with everything so peaceful there without the sun up. It was dark and just mystical and magical. It was pretty amazing.

What can you do there? Right now you can fly the Millennium Falcon on a thrilling interactive smuggling mission!  The line for this right now is about 5-6 hours, but I’ll tell you right now… it was super cool and super amazing.

Millennium Falcon – Take Control of the Fastest Ship in the Galaxy

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge - Millennium Falcon

Ride in the famous cockpit of the Millennium Falcon on a daring flight—and whether you’re a pilot, engineer or gunner, every role is crucial. The engines rumble as the Millennium Falcon blasts off, pushing you and your crew back into your seats when you jump into hyperspace towards adventure. Along the way you’ll face danger at every turn. Will your mission succeed or fail? It’s up to you—find out if you have what it takes to outmaneuver the odds aboard the Millennium Falcon. Get ready to punch it!

Fly the Millennium Falcon on a thrilling interactive smuggling mission—now open.

I got to be the pilot, which was awesome. If you can (potentially) by any chance ask to be the pilot or try to become it … do it!

Star Wars Oga's Cantina

They count off by 6, which is the secret. Try to position yourself to get that “hot” spot. It will give you a completely different experience. They have 2 pilots per ride, there are 4 other spots.

Just a heads up! If you’re someone who doesn’t mind jerking around a bit, this ride is for you. If this jerking makes you sick, just beware. I’m a BIG proponent of it. I don’t get sick on rides like this, but just a heads up.

After riding the Falcon I wanted to grab a quick bite! Off to Oga’s Cantina!

Star Wars Oga's Cantina

Welcome to the local cantina, where bounty hunters, smugglers, rogue traders, and weary travelers of all ages come together to refuel, enjoy music, and conduct meetings—no questions asked. With an expansive menu of exotic concoctions for young ones and adults, the cantina is a welcome rest stop before your crew’s next galactic journey.

As you plan your next smuggling run, please enjoy some bold musical entertainment courtesy of droid DJ R-3X, a former Starspeeder 3000 pilot. The cantina adheres to proprietor Oga Garra’s strict code of conduct, but patrons can be… unpredictable, so just keep your head down—and drink casual.

For those who have long dreamed of visiting one of the galaxy’s most infamous watering holes, Oga’s Cantina brings that dream to life.

I didn’t expect to stay in Oga’s Cantina as long as I did! I loved the atmosphere and the environment. It was so cool! The waitstaff was part of the Disney magic, too. They were amazing. They were incredible. They were so cool. The great thing is that they do cap you at 45 minutes, so the people will keep on moving!

I didn’t get a chance to head to Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo while there, but I loved seeing what they offer!

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

At this restaurant housed in a working hangar bay, choose from a variety of dishes prepared with ingredients from across the galaxy—all of it delicious, but none of it familiar. Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs has docked a food freighter loaded with fresh supplies and he’s ready to satisfy the appetites of visitors and locals alike with an array of exotic offerings. His planet-hopping travels allow him to prepare fare with unusual flavors that delight customers.

Once you’ve got your grub, sit inside the spacious hanger, or grab a table in the rustic outdoor seating area surrounded by the crumbling walls of the old marketplace.

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

This was the coolest and most amazing LAND! It is worth the wait?

YES. YES. YES. If you don’t live in the Florida or Anaheim area, the wait is beyond worth it. I know that we only go as a family maybe 1 or 2x every few years, so the wait will be worth it for us BIG TIME!
