They love a good tomato soup, but my friend Sheri has shared with me a recipe that helps you amp up a basic canned soup. She calls this her “magic” Canned Tomato Soup Recipe. She takes your basic soup and amps it up a bit! Ready!?

Canned Tomato Soup Recipe – AMP IT UP!How to Amp Up TOmate Soup

There’s nothing like finding some classic recipes that you can make throughout the year for your family. You want to make sure you have meals that are 1) easy 2) enjoyable 3) practical to make. Since we have 5 kids in our family, I love being able to stretch a dollar as much as I possibly can. When I find out that I can amp up or kick a recipe up a notch with basic items that I already have I’m all over it. This easy (peasy) Canned Tomato Soup Recipe is one that I hope you keep on hand for your family because this is super one to make!

Easy Dinner Recipe for Kids

Let’s kick it off with some ingredients. I want to make sure see see just how easy this recipe really is for you to make. One of my pet peeves is when I read a recipe and realize that it’s not NEARLY as easy as everyone says it is. I can’t stand that. My time (as is every single mom and dad) precious and when someone says something is easy, I really expect it to be easy!

This is what you need to make sure you have when you’re amping up your Canned Tomato Soup Recipe:

1) 1 Can Tomato Soup
2) 2 tsp pesto
3) Fresh ground black pepper
4) Grated Parmesan cheese.

When you’re looking to make your (easy) Canned Tomato Soup Recipe, this is what you need to do. I’m going to share with you 2 ways to get it done.
The first way to make this is by following these 3 steps. I have my teens in the kitchen with me now because I like having them help me out. I also like showing them recipes that I know they could do on their own when I’m not home. My oldest is 14 years old and I have him babysitting a ton now for his siblings. I love that when I’m not home, I know that I can give him recipes that I feel like he can handle. I don’t want him doing anything too crazy, this is the perfect dip your toes in the water recipe for his brothers and sister.
Step #1:

  1. Stir in 1 tbsp of sour cream and some chives and ground black pepper.
  2. Add 1 tsp of Thai red curry paste and some cooked rice.
  3. Add one finely chopped chipotle pepper in adobo sauce and some shredded chicken.
  4. Top with arugula, shaved Parmesan, and balsamic glaze
  5. Add 1 tsp of red wine vinegar and melt on some fontina cheese.

I’m telling you right now, this is a great recipe to have on hand! As you can tell from the photos it’s DELISH! I’m all about making sure I have these in my kitchen recipe arsenal. My mom is proud of me for doing this with my own kids! YOU will love the taste of this recipe too, it’s a modern way to take your basic Canned Tomato Soup Recipe and make it a lot more yummy.
