Caring for Giants Disney World

While getting the super sneak peek of Pandora – The World of Avatar, we also had the chance to get a super sneak peek of something extra special at Animal Kingdom, too. Have you ever heard about the Caring for Giants at Disney World? If you have – you know how special it is and if you haven’t – you need to check it out! I was able to get a special tour with the group and it was fascinating!

I have to say, Caring for Giants Disney World took my breath away. It was fascinating and beautiful and interesting and informative and really, really special all at the same time. It was an experience that – if you’re visiting the Animal Kingdom – you must check out. It was that kind of good.

Disney is dedicated to helping reverse the decline of African elephants in the wild. To date, the Disney Conservation
Fund has provided more than $2.4 million to support elephants, including $1.8 million to support African elephants.
Guests can learn much more about this conservation work during the new Caring for Giants experience, a unique,
family-friendly adventure at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

During this 60-minute experience, Guests will meet African cultural representatives who will share stories of their
homeland, learn about the Disney Conservation Fund’s efforts – including the Elephants and Bees project – and
meet dedicated animal care experts who care for the elephant herd at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. They will also
observe the elephant herd from a newly created viewing area on the Kilimanjaro Safaris savanna.

Elephants at Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s state-of-the-art habitat receive comprehensive care from a team of animal
keepers, veterinarians and scientists, all experts in their field and dedicated to all the wonderful animals of the world,
especially those in our care. These specialists monitor the welfare of the animals through daily care and preventative healthcare.

I’m not kidding, while our group was touring Caring for Giants Disney World, you could have heard a pin drop. We were all mesmerized by the elephants. We asked questions. We laughed. We even shed a happy tear (seeing the cute little baby, although she was 350+ pounds!). We were all curious and dazzled and just in awe of these gorgeous animals. Not to mention it was just incredible to hear about the Disney Conservation Fund’s efforts. It really made me see the importance of making a difference and making an impact.

Registration for this new offering has opened, and the first Guests will be able to experience the tour starting March 12. Offered 10 times a day (at select times from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), Guests will meet tour guides across from the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction entrance and be guided backstage.

Cost is $30, and discounts are available for Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members.
