If you’re looking for some activities to do with your kids, a Thanksgiving Word Scramble is a fun one. I love this activity because your kids are learning at the same time. The beauty is that they’re not even aware that they’re learning, which makes it an even better activity!

I wanted to come up with a fun Thanksgiving Word Scramble that would keep kids busy, but also be fun for the moms and dads, too. I listed out (10) scrambled words for you to unscramble.

All these words have to do with Thanksgiving. I know that they might be easy to look at and just spot the word, but that’s part of the fun. Watch your kids have a blast trying to figure out the words.

There are (2) designs of my Thanksgiving Word Scramble, so whichever one you like the most – enjoy! I’m also attaching the PDF for you to click on and print out.

When you’ve printed these out, my suggestion is to let you child try and figure out the word on their own. One of the best ways to start working on a scramble is to look at all the letters and start trying to sound things out.

When it comes to taking each word at a time, think about the theme of the Scramble. This one is a Thanksgiving Day one, so let your child know that all of the words will have something to do with Thanksgiving. One thing my daughter loves to do is start writing down words that has to do with Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Day Activities to Do with your Family

Ask you child, “What words have to do with the Thanksgiving Day holiday?”

Let them list out as many words as possible and you just keep on writing them all down. After your child has exhausted all of their words for the holiday, maybe you could add some, too. If you notice any key words missing it would be a good time to add this in on the list.

Now show your child all the words. Let them see them and then ask them to start comparing them to some of the words listed on the Thanksgiving Word Scramble. They might be able to identify some crossover in the words pretty quickly.

If they don’t, just allow them the time to sit with your list and work through each word. This will be the fun time for the to find the words and know what they are. As they identify them, ask them to sound them out. This is a great exercise to do with kids learning to read.

I’ve also created a fun Thanksgiving Day Thankful List for Thanksgiving for your kids to fill out, too. It will allow them to have some fun thinking about what they’re thankful for this holiday season.
