I hate walking up in the morning to a dirty and unorganized kitchen. I’ve been cleaning 6 things routinely in my kitchen before I head up to bed for the night and wake up feeling refreshed. I’m talking all things kitchen!
6 Things To Clean In Your Kitchen Every Night
I’m the first one up in our house in the morning, so whatever the kitchen looks like before bed is what I’m greeted with in the morning. I can’t tell you how mentally exhausting it is to wake up to cups and plates all over the counter.
It’s such a defeating feeling. My kids are getting better (a little bit!) at keeping the house organized and clean, but I’m still the one to really stay on top of everything.
Ive’ noticed that when I take care of 6 things in the kitchen before bed, I wake up feeling like I can conquer the world. When I come down to a kitchen that is just in disarray, it sets my routine and attitude for the day ahead.
It is as easy as getting everything organized and tidy. It’s literally as simple as… 1-2-3!
When it comes to targeting the 6 things in my kitchen to clean, I’m all about making sure these 6 places are “perfect.” I now have my husband helping me since we’re the last 2 that head up at night.
Kitchen Areas We Target to Clean:
- Coffee Machine
I’m going to quickly walk you through what I do with each targeted area. Usually I can get this done in about 15 minutes. It’s not even that much time and just the mental peace of getting this done is priceless.
There’s nothing like coming down to a clean sink. I never believed this until I started doing it. Before I head up to bed I make sure the sink is empty and clean. I will either load the dishwasher up OR wash any items that are in the sink.
Once the sink is empty I’ll spray it down quickly with product to give it a quick wipe down. I love being able to keep the sink clean and sparse. It just looks good and it feels good to see it empty and ready.
I don’t know how it is in your house, but in my house is seems like the counters are mistaken for shelving units. Everything gets thrown on the counters from my family. There’s books or papers and letters and everything and anything.
I always joke that if something doesn’t have a “home” at home, it goes on the counter. I have tried to take this and STOP the habit. I like the counters to be sparse and empty. I will take everything that doesn’t belong and place them in the rooms of the kids it “does” belong to.
I then will give the counters a quick wipe down, too. I love seeing the counters clean and sparse in the morning. It really does boost me up!
This is an easy one to do, but it’s also a great one to get into the habit of doing. I love wiping down all of my appliances. I’ll take a paper towel and add cleaner to it and wipe the fridge handles, stove knobs, toaster, etc. I love having them have a little shine.
I feel like my fridge handles are the most used, so I like to make sure these appliances do have a good clean and wipe down before the start of the next day.
Clean Coffee Machine:
If you make coffee at home, this is a great one to do before you go to bed. I love to clean the pot and the mesh basket before I head up. Obviously if depends what kind of coffee machine you have, but I hate cleaning it in the morning. I like it ready.
It’s just a mental thing to have this ready for me as soon as I wake up. I love not having to think about it in the morning.
This goes along with an empty sink, but I do think it needs it’s own section. Make sure the dishwasher is either empty with nothing that needs to be popped in it OR load it up for a run before you head up.
My kids have this as one of their chores, so I love just being able to tell one of them to do it before they head up for the night. This is an easy one to get done, but I love having the dishwasher clean itself!
I’ve been doing this more and more because I’m so worried about making sure everything is clean. I wipe down the faucets before I head up to bed. Dirty hands are always turning the faucets on, so I like to make sure the faucets get a good rub down with cleaner.
These 6 things will change your life in the morning. I’m not even trying to be dramatic here, these 6 things will really get you mentally ready for the day ahead. I’ve seen a huge difference in my day with these things done the night before.
You can also do these 5 things to get you ready for the day. I’m a big believer in setting yourself up for the best day ever. We’re all trying our best to make everything work right now. There are things we can do to make our days better and better.
Make sure you’re following me over on Instagram, too. I share a ton of stuff that we do to help ourselves there, too! Love for you to share what you do and what helps you in the mornings, too. I feel like we all learn from each other.
