Meet My Family on YouTube. We’ve been on YouTube since 2008! YouTube has been part of my family’s life for over 10 years now! I started my channel right after I had my son Henry, which is crazy to me because Henry turns 10 years old in June. I didn’t work at YouTube like I did on my blog all those years ago because I never, ever thought YouTube would become… well, YOUTUBE! I just added videos that were relevant to and for my blog and would cross promote them over. Honestly speaking, I started YouTube as an extension of mt blog’s content. That was it for me. That was the sole purpose. It was just always a fun place to store videos of our family and to work on fun projects that I was doing with various brands.
On January 1st, 2018 I vowed that I was going to commit more to YouTube this year. I love making videos with my family and with brands, so for me – it was a fun “thing” to tack onto my goals for 2018! As my sons have gotten older I’ve had to respect and understand a MAJOR factor – content needs to be approved by them now first. As tough as it is, I get it. They’re teenagers now and they want to make sure they know what I’m putting out there of them. It’s made it a little more difficult, but not crazy difficult. I’m having fun and that’s all that matters for our family.
This weekend I decided to FINALLY make an intro video on our channel. YouTube recommends it because there are tons of people who come to your channel that don’t know you, so it’s important to introduce them to YOU! I took 3 hours this weekend to go through 2000 videos throughout the years to pull pieces to create a quick and fun video. I wanted to share it here with you all because I would love to have you come over and SUBSCRIBE!
I’m telling you right now — If you don’t take family videos, start TODAY. You will be so happy years from now. Just capture them right on your phone. If you don’t feel comfortable uploading them to YouTube, set them to private or set-up a storage system for your videos that you can get to easily. I’m sitting here BEYOND thankful that I’ve been able to chronicle portions of our life and have them for the kids. I had forgotten about so much stuff and it just all came flooding back.
