A Magical Moment from Christmas Eve

My mom always has her camera on her phone up and ready. It’s become a family joke with my siblings and I… mom is always ready for a moment! Truthfully… it’s a beautiful thing because she captures moments and is able to hone in on some beautiful memories. As much as it can be funny at times to always see her camera-ready, it’s also something that I cherish, too.

On Christmas Eve Victoria ran upstairs to me VERY upset. We were celebrating at my brother’s house and all the kids were in his basement game room/play area. Apparently Victoria wasn’t allowing Ben to hold the TV remote downstairs and was running around with it… yes, teasing him. I heard the commotion, so called down.. “GUYS! Stop it! Santa’s watching!”

You know, classic Mom.

Within seconds Victoria was upstairs, very upset. She ran over to me and just hugged me, but wouldn’t look up at me and I could tell she was about to start crying. I asked her what was wrong because there was a little fear in her eyes, too.

“Ben told me I might get coal for Christmas.”

And within this very moment, my mom captured it.

As much as I was trying not to laugh because she was SO NERVOUS… it also made my heart skip a beat. My little girl scared about getting coal for Christmas.

Guess who was on her best behavior for the rest of the night?

Yup, Victoria.

And thank you to my mom for capturing this precious moment. I love it.
