Pumpkin Carving with the McClellands

Pumpkin carving is a huge family tradition int he McClelland home. Every year the kids carve pumpkins the DAY before Halloween. It’s actually become a family joke because I’m always the first one at the patch to buy pumpkins, but they we wait and wait and wait for the last possible second until we actually care them! My husband gets VERY into carving, so he takes it very seriously. I learned a long time ago that my crafting skills were horrific, so I’m the memory maker – I take photos and videos of everyone. I don’t even pick up a carving knife… it’s just not in my genetic makeup.

Pumpkin carving is a big deal in our house.

I Got Video of the Kids Pumpkin Carving!

This year I tried to get as much video as can be because the kids always crack me up while they’re carving away! They get into it and really have these grand visions of greatness (which they usually nail pretty well!). I sit there giving encouragement and motivation! LOL! Victoria – being 4 years old – was really getting excited this year about it. She was all about princesses, but wasn’t sure how to actually go about carving… so she just drew them on! It’s these moments I cherish because as the kids are getting older, I’m holding onto family traditions for dear life!

As you can see, the pumpkins looked pretty good this year! I was really proud of the kids! And… as you can see at the end of the video, mine stayed perfectly round! 🙂

Hope you ALL had a beautiful Halloween. Enjoy the FALL!
