15 Things My Kids Will Never Know

It all started last week for me. We bought each of the teachers personalized notepads/stationery this year for the holiday. When I was a little, this was ALWAYS a staple gift for my mom and dad to my teachers. Everyone always loved opening up something personal and special and unique. It’s that one thing you never buy for yourself. So… all that being said, this year I thought this would be a perfect gift for the teachers. Fortunately every teacher loved the notepads/stationery and wrote us beautiful thank you notes or let us know in person how much they loved it! I could tell the boys were thrilled with “their” gift choice! 🙂

Here’s where it gets funny (to me). One of William’s teacher’s wrote a note thanking him specifically for the “stationery.” William read the note aloud to me when he got home and then looked at me with a blank face.

“Stationery?? What’s stationery??”

I thought he was joking. William loves to know everything about everything, so I literally thought he was joking.

He wasn’t. He had NO idea what stationery was at all. I couldn’t believe it. But now I get it. Here’s my 5 kids living in this digital world, why would they need stationery?? Even though I try my best to keep them tied to “old” ways of life, there are still things that they just won’t experience. It’s kind of crazy to think about it, but it’s true!

I remember laughing when my dad once told me that his TV growing up was just black and white. I couldn’t fathom not having (dare I say it) a color TV. How did my dad even watch?? LOL!! But it’s true, it’s just how time is and how it effects our lives.

So it got me thinking… what else REALLY will my kids never know???

Here’s my top 15!! What am I missing???

Obviously there’s no image for this, but I do have the definition! LOL!

A collect call, also known as a reverse charge call in other parts of the English-speaking world, is a telephone call in which the calling party wants to place a call at the called party’s expense. In the past, collect calls were only possible as an operator-assisted call, but with the introduction of computer-based telephone dialing equipment, it is now possible to place a collect call without using an operator.
