Anyone else suffer from (VERY) Dry Eyes? Love relief tips!

About 2 weeks ago I started having issues with my eyes, my right one in particular. Honestly – I immediately chalked it up to screen time and ignored the blurriness and irritation. I did the best I could to limit my screen time for a few days (which is hilarious since it’s what I do for a living!), but it didn’t work. My eyes just felt tired, irritated and sensitive.

But then Vegas happened last week. I tried to rally all week, but it was difficult.

Oh, man. I was dizzy. I was lightheaded. And my eyes? They were blurry throughout the entire week. I actually was worried, I didn’t know what was going on and it was making me nervous. I have glasses for driving and watching TV/movies (I’m near-sighted), so I wore them all week, but they didn’t help. The second I arrived home (last Thursday), I called my eye doctor for an appointment and she got me in the next day.

Immediately my doctor said that with all the symptoms I was telling her, it seemed like it was dry eyes. But dry eyes? I had NEVER had an issue before. How could I have dry eyes? Before she tested to see if my eyes were dry, she wanted to do a full eye exam on me. Everything looked fine. I didn’t need a new prescription. It was at that very point that I was HOPING it was dry eyes because I didn’t know what else it could be!

She did a test where she put yellow dye drops in my eyes and looked at them under the blue light. Now I may be wrong on the nitty gritty details, but the dye should take about 10 seconds to dry up “on a normal eye.” She couldn’t get to 2 seconds in my right eye, and only got to 4 in my left eye.

Dry eyes.

VERY dry eyes.

She told me to get over-the-counter drops for my eyes, recommending Soothing and Systane. She also suggested to start taking Fish Oil because that can eventually really help.

The drops have definitely started to give me relief, but I’m thinking this is something that I may always deal with now. I would love to know if you have any recommendations for me.

Anything work for you?

How has it been working?

Love for you to share! This is all so new to me!

I don’t have what you have, but my eyes are definitely getting dryer as I get older. I’m having a harder time wearing my contacts because of it.

I have seasonal allergies and when a room is too dry, my eyes are the first thing to suffer. And I can really tell! It’s not too annoying but noticeable enough to be a distraction.

It is great that you found something that would help you. Our eyes are so important and it can be scary to have any sort of problem in that area.

I think our eyes are getting sensitive as we get older, especially if we are working in front of the computer for long hours. I haven’t had dry eyes before but I guess lots of water intake could really help. I hope your eyes will get better soon.

I’ve suffered from dry eyes for years. In my case, I think it’s a side effect from medication I take. It’s very uncomfortable and requires some attention.
