It’s absolutely incredible and it’s become one of my fave shows to watch with my husband. It’s not easy finding the perfect show that we can both enjoy, TIMELESS does it for us!

If you’re not familiar with the show, here’s a little bit about it…

From Eric Kripke (“Revolution,” “Supernatural”), Shawn Ryan (“The Shield”) and the producers of “The Blacklist” comes this thrilling action-adventure series in which a mysterious criminal steals a secret state-of-the-art time machine, intent on destroying America as we know it by changing the past. Our only hope is an unexpected team: a scientist, a soldier and a history professor who use the machine’s prototype to travel back in time to critical events. While they must make every effort not to affect the past themselves, they must also stay one step ahead of this dangerous fugitive. Can this handpicked team uncover the mystery behind it all and end his destruction before it’s too late?

I was ecstatic when I found out I would have the chance to interview Abigail Spencer plays Lucy Preston in the NBC drama Timeless. She’s spot-on and just an exceptional actress! She was so sweet to take time this morning to chat with a bunch of us bloggers! There were 3 things that really jumped out at me throughout the time we were together!

What made you want to play Lucy Preston? What drew you to this role?

I had an opposite reaction! I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do another television show. You really need to be invested in being this person and in this world. I actually had a little bit of a Lucy reaction. I kind of had the reaction where I was like, ‘I’m not doing that! Time travel!?’ I think that was the right quality. I think that what was needed to play Lucy! Anyone who may have been like ‘time travel… that’s what I want to do!’ After several conversations with my team… my manager and agent, they all know me very well. They’ve known me through every stage – before a mom, after a mom. They said – ‘Let’s meet the creators.’ Meeting them, they were so lovely and they love their wives and they have kids. It’s important to know that they have families because you become a family. It’s important to know the people. I think they liked the fact that I wanted to just play a normal person. The kicker was… 5 other actresses… who are wonderful actresses, they had all received a script. They all reached out to me after reading it and said, “You need to play this!” They though – This is Abigail’s. It was culmination of all of that. As I kept reading it, too, I thought about my son and all little girls in the world and what their options are for women on TV. I love that she uses her intellect, I loved being able to make the teacher the hero. I love being a great role model for girls everywhere.

Balancing Motherhood?

I feel like it’s the constant quest. How do you balance being a working mom? No matter what job it is, it’s always the balance of being totally there and balance for your kids. But also showing him that mommmy had a dream when she was a little girl and went after it when she was little. A lot of my job does take me away, I just try to include him in as much of the job and process. He comes on set and knows all the people I’m working with. I’m very grateful for FaceTime and always finding new ways to connect and be together. Right now it’s quality over quantity. I also have a wonderful support system. I believe it takes a village. I just love Amy Poehler’s quote from her book YES, PLEASE – “Every working mom needs a wife!”

Would you change history if you really could?

The message of time travel is that we’re all connected. Every life matters. We all matter, we’re all connected. That’s the thing that we keep discussing. There are so many things that I would have love to have changed about my life. But then I think – would I have my son? What would be the ramifications in my life. My father suddenly died of a heart attack 6 years ago while he was visiting me. If I could have one more second with my father, I would love that. I then think of all the things that came out of that. 7000 people came to his funeral. I try to think of the blessings that came out of his passing. That’s what I always think about, if I could have one more second with him, I would. But then I have to think – what would be the ramifications?

What does your son think about what you do?

—-> What I truly loved here was that Abigail got choked up talking about her son. She was so lovely to chat with, but I just really fell in love with her when she opened up with this answer. What an awesome woman!

We live in LA, at the end of our block there is a giant TIMELESS sign. My giant head is looking down at him everyday! He sees it from the playground. And the other great thing is that all of the parents at his school are wonderful about what I do for a living. They tell him that ‘your mom is a great actor and you should be proud!’ That makes me happy because I feel like he’s able to connect the dots. I just believe that I want to be like my dad always said – ‘Find what you love and make a whole life out of it!’

A GIGANTIC thank you to Abigail for taking the time to chat with us today! She was beyond generous and didn’t rush anyone and was just so awesome!

Tune into TIMELESS on NBC on Monday nights at 10PM (ET)!!
