Spring Cleaning – Reorganizing my Linen Closet with Tide and Downy

I’m embarrassed to admit this, but my linen closet needs a major re-haul and organization intervention. I started giving the boys more and more chores to help out with at home, one of which being to put away the towels/sheets/blankets. I’ve been aware of the “slipping” going on with the chore.

Originally towels weren’t put back with other towels. Sheets weren’t folded in a neat way. Hand towels were squished in more like balls than folded squares. We went south quickly with this chore!

Reorganizing my Linen Closet

Intervention was needed and STAT!

Every spring I do a major cleaning and organization. I go through all the clothing (for everyone in the house) and donate anything that doesn’t fit anymore. I do a major cleaning in the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living room. I go through all the toys and books to see what can be donated, too. It always makes me feel so good when I’ve completed my ultimate Spring Cleaning. I look at everything in the house and say, “I wish it could stay this way forever!”

The first thing on my list this year was (surprise, surprise!) the Linen Closet! I wanted everything taken out and gone through… old towels, old sheets, damaged anything, old hand towels… everything out! It’s crazy, there were towels and sheets in the Linen Closet that we haven’t used in months because there was zero organization to it! It was great to have the boys help me because I want them to be on top of keeping everything neat and organized, so it was good for them to see me keep things, get rid of things and (honestly) toss items that just were no good to use.

Once we went through everything and decided what we were going to keep, a GOOD cleaning needed to happen! I’m a Tide and Downy girl. I like my laundry to look good, feel good and smell good. To me, a delicious scented item means it’s clean. Not to mention, there’s nothing like opening a family Linen Closet and have some wonderful scents inside. It ALWAYS makes me smile when I grab a towel and it smells so good! My husband is the same exact way, too! I used my FAVE Tide PODS® Plus Febreze™ for all my linen cleaning.

What I got was an awesome clean for my towels and sheets, PLUS long-lasting freshness with the Febreze. The additional beauty, the 4-in-1 pac cleans, brighten fabrics, fight stains and freshen each load. It also gives your laundry a fantastic and fresh Botanical Rain scent. I’m telling you, the scent STAYS in your clean laundry, it’s like magic! One of my other laundry secrets, I add in Downy Fabric Conditioner… my fave Downy with Febreze Spring & Renewal Fabric Conditioner.

It’s going to soften, freshen and protect… but most of all, you’re going to get that additional yummy scent! I’ve always used Fabric Conditioner with my laundry because it does condition your clothing and make them super soft, I want that for my linens! I always think of it as hair conditioner, but for my clothes!

Once everything was clean and dry, we folded and put everything in proper order.

Towels on one shelf.

Sheets for mom and dad on another shelf.

Sheets for the boys on another shelf.

And all hand towels and wash clothes on another.

Everything looked perfect!

Linen Closet 2016 Spring Cleaning?

Yes, complete.

Now if my sons can just keep it this way (here’s to hoping!).

Check out my bestie Vera’s reorganization powers!
