If you walk into my house at any given time, Spotify is playing my favorite music on my computer. From the second I wake up, till the second I head to bed… music is playing in my house. I’ve found throughout my life that music inspires and motivates me. It’s calming to me to have tunes playing and Spotify is the way we stream all of our music at home.
Spotify believes that every young person should have the opportunity to explore the world through music. Music changes lives. Music brings people together. Music inspires. Music has no bounds. Spotify truly is a community of people that care about, and believe in, the power of music.
Recently, Spotify took the time to work closely with Kealing Middle School to identify ways in which they could support the school’s music programs. Kealing Middle School sits in East Austin, a historic and low-income neighborhood in Austin, TX. Thanks to dual Academy and Magnet programs, local students go to school alongside kids from all over Austin. This gives Kealing Middle School a unique, diverse student body that reflects the city as a whole.
Alongside great partners, Spotify built Kealing Middle School a recording studio to empower students to explore their passion and encourage the whole school to come together within this space. All the materials used to build the music studio at Kealing Middle School were donated from the Spotify House at SXSW.
Incredible, right? It gives me goose bumps just thinking about it!
Here to Stay is a narrative that combines the determination of the Kealing Middle School community in Texas with the permanence of the materials from Spotify House at SXSW. It’s very inspiring to see something come together like this for students.
As you can see, Here To Stay communicates Spotify’s commitment to the Austin community and tells the story of Spotify’s TRUE AND LASTING impact. What sets Here To Stay apart in Austin is the school’s unique program, the students, the passionate faculty, and the role that music plays in giving every kid the opportunity to be heard.
For me, that’s the most important part – the true role of music. It’s allowing every kid the chance to be heard and there’s something magical and priceless in that.
As I said above, music changes lives. Music can transform kids, you just need to give them the ability to play.
What I love about what Spotify did in Austin was that they are bringing music to students with this new studio. And as they have promised, this is just the very beginning.
