Martha Stewart Craft Project: DIY Chalkboard Menu

Crafting is something that my kids absolutely LOVE doing at home. I love seeing this creative passion in them because it reminds me of my childhood. My mother would always come up with fun and cute craft projects to do with me and my siblings. My favorite was putting them on display around the house for everyone to see. It always made me feel proud to see someone love something I made, gave me such a sense of pride. To see this now in my own children is a priceless gift.

I was ecstatic when Martha Stewart Living reached out to me to work on one of their Martha Stewart Crafts Blogger Boxes! As soon as it arrived, I was giddy! Martha is MARTHA and doing any of her craft projects is something that truly is so much fun for me to do with the kids. My youngest son Henry begged me to let him help out on this one solo! We had so much fun opening up the box to find out what we were going to make and see what Martha Stewart products were inside!

We found out we were going to be creating a DIY Chalkboard Menu! Perfect for our family! We laid out all the products that we got and we were ready to create!

What was inside?

First step, Henry and I painted the backing of the frame with Chalkboard Paint and let dry. Paint a second coat for even coverage.

Once the Chalkboard Paint is dry, tape down the Chalkboard Stencils using the Stencil Tape!

This was a big deal trying to figure out what stencils what to use! Henry and I looked over them all… he chose WELCOME, I chose the heart.

Next step, use Erasable Liquid Chalk to write out the menu ideas and create designs! This was the FUN part doing this! We even enlisted “Daddy” for some help on this part!

The Erasable Liquid Chalk won’t smudge, but it can be removed with a damp towel.

When it’s done, remove the stencil immediately as paint is still wet! Be careful on this step! It does come off VERY easily!

And then the WELCOME part of our DIY Chalkboard Menu was complete! Now off to the heart for me!

And… I have to mention the FAB beauty find in my Martha Stewart Crafts box!! Maybelline SuperStay® 24 hour 2-Step Lipcolor was so much fun to try out and enjoy!!
