Bringing the Past to the Present with Legacybox.com

Let’s talk Legacybox. Over the last 8 years, I have taken thousands and thousands of photos and videos of my family. I post them on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Snapchat and right on my blog. I also store photos and videos on special “family drives” at home and label them by month/year. I always like to think that I am creating for our family a digital scrapbook. I want my sons and daughter to always have these memories to look back at years from now. It’s important for me to give them these pieces of their lives so that they can show their kids and grandkids someday. I’m a sentimental person like that because my mom captured my entire childhood/teen years.

In our basement at home, I have boxes and boxes filled with old photographs, VHS tapes and outdated video cassettes. I know these pieces of my life are there, but I’ve never taken the time to do anything with them so my children can see them.

My sons have never seen the video of me getting my college diploma.

My sons have never seen videos of my husband and I (college sweethearts) on our first vacation together in California.

My sons have never seen our wedding video or honeymoon video.

My oldest 2 sons have never even seen videos of themselves as babies.

And believe it or not, I have footage of all of these things (and so much more!), just downstairs in clearly marked boxes. I have photographs from 1998-2008 downstairs, again – all clearly marked and labeled. They just are sitting there, collecting dust and aging.

Legacybox

Well, it was time to bring them back to life. It was time to bring the past to the present and Legacybox helped me do this easily, quickly and conveniently. Gone are the days of VCRs and Boom Boxes! I don’t have any of those things in my house, which is why all these items are just sitting in my basement.

Look familiar?

Legacybox makes it easy for you and it was amazing to see the process up close and personal and just be overwhelmed (in a good way!) by the results.

As soon as you sign up, Legacybox will send you one of their indestructible boxes in the mail with mailing information inside for you. Take the time to go through all of your memories – tapes, cassettes, photos, audio clips – and choose what you want to send to Legacybox.

Legacybox

For me, this was so much fun because I was finding item upon item upon item that I wanted Legacybox to transfer to DVD files. It was cool having the kids help me because they kept asking me about certain photos and videos. It was wonderful for me to take the time to do this with them.

I really just took the time to fill my Legacybox with memories that mean something to me. It’s important to note, too, that any format in your collection, Legacybox can handle it!

After I packed everything up and mailed my package (each kit includes a pre-paid shipping label), I sat at home BEYOND EXCITED for them to return! I hadn’t seen my OWN wedding video in 10 years! I hadn’t seen so much of this footage in so, so, so long! The toughest part of this process for me was the waiting (only 4-6 weeks) because I was so excited! The best part was Legacybox updated me via email about the different stages – letting me know items had been delivered, items had been cleaned, items had been processed and items shipped.

Legacybox Returns

When my Legacybox arrived, I was shaking when I opened it! I couldn’t wait! Everything came back organized and neat, with all the DVDs from Legacybox bound together and labeled.

It’s pretty amazing that ALL of these items came back on DVDs!

Legacybox

I’m not kidding when I share with you that I sobbed looking through all the footage. I literally sobbed. All happy tears. All tears of joy. All tears of excitement. I couldn’t get over seeing video of my husband when he was 24 years old! I couldn’t get over seeing my oldest son’s 1st birthday! I couldn’t get over seeing me walk down the aisle with my father! These were memories I had stored in my heart, but I didn’t truly remember them to the core. It brought so many wonderful emotions in my heart.

The beauty was that Legacybox also added everything to a thumb drive, so I was able to see everything right on my laptop, too. The gift of receiving memories like this was just priceless.

I wanted to capture the process as best as I could on video because I knew in heart that it was something that I would absolutely love. I am planning on sending about 25 additional videos and more photos to Legacybox and encouraging my family and friends to do the same. Life goes by so quickly, it’s important to make sure we preserve the past and share history with our children and also have it for ourselves.

A gift like this for yourself and family is priceless! You’re creating your own legacy, and it’s important to have all of those saved memories at your fingertips.

I’m excited to share that first 25 people to use the code: GENERATION at checkout will receive 40% off their Legacybox!

My Mom has more photos then anyone I know (they didn’t take videos back then)–some are in photo albums–some not. She was born in 1922 and traveled a lot. Just recently she was wondering what to do with all of them—-well bow I have a suggestion! Thank you!!

Oh my goodness! I need this! I also have a lot (I really mean a lot!) of pictures and VHS tapes just stacked up in a closet. I would love to have them put in DVD format for me and my family to enjoy for years to come! Thanks for letting me know about Legacybox.

I love this company and their process is so easy! I purchased two of their kits within the last couple months and had a bunch of our old home videos made into DVDs. I plan on giving it to my husband as a Father’s Day gift but it will really be something the whole family can enjoy. Like you mentioned, there are so many events we recorded but our kids have never watched. Such a cool service!

I was just talking to my mom how I don’t ever order prints of the photos we take because it’s all digital! I know I have VHS from high school and college now with no way to play it. What an amazing service!

I have GOT to get my stuff transferred as well. I’m so worried about all the VHS tapes I have of the kids when they were babies.
