Let’s talk Legacybox. Over the last 8 years, I have taken thousands and thousands of photos and videos of my family. I post them on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Snapchat and right on my blog. I also store photos and videos on special “family drives” at home and label them by month/year. I always like to think that I am creating for our family a digital scrapbook. I want my sons and daughter to always have these memories to look back at years from now. It’s important for me to give them these pieces of their lives so that they can show their kids and grandkids someday. I’m a sentimental person like that because my mom captured my entire childhood/teen years.

In our basement at home, I have boxes and boxes filled with old photographs, VHS tapes and outdated video cassettes. I know these pieces of my life are there, but I’ve never taken the time to do anything with them so my children can see them.

My sons have never seen the video of me getting my college diploma.

My sons have never seen videos of my husband and I (college sweethearts) on our first vacation together in California.

My sons have never seen our wedding video or honeymoon video.

My oldest 2 sons have never even seen videos of themselves as babies.

And believe it or not, I have footage of all of these things (and so much more!), just downstairs in clearly marked boxes. I have photographs from 1998-2008 downstairs, again – all clearly marked and labeled. They just are sitting there, collecting dust and aging.

I couldn’t get over seeing video of my husband when he was 24 years old! I couldn’t get over seeing my oldest son’s 1^st birthday! I couldn’t get over seeing me walk down the aisle with my father! These were memories I had stored in my heart, but I didn’t truly remember them to the core. It brought so many wonderful emotions in my heart.
