Why Sleep is Important for your Body, Mind and Soul

Disclosure: This is a sponsored posting with Sleep Number®. All opinions are 100% my own.

My life can best be described as busy. It’s a kind of busy that I love, but it’s truly a non-stop kind of day. I have five kids that are my absolute life: William (11), Alex (10), Ben (8), Henry (7) and Victoria (2). I’ve been married to my college sweetheart since 2001. He is an entrepreneur and works crazy hours. And then there’s my job as a full-time digital influencer, which in all honesty, is the type of job I could do 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The Internet never turns off, so for my line of work I can always be on, at any time of the day. I love what I do, so it’s not really work for me, but it still does require a ton of time. The toughest part of my life is just trying to balance it all. I do the very best I can to make sure I’m the best mom, wife, daughter, friend and businesswoman.

Sleep for me is imperative. I cannot function on two or three hours of sleep here and there. For my body, mind and soul, a solid night sleep is crucial to my lifestyle. Sleep completes the perfect trifecta for me in regards to keeping myself healthy with healthy eating and working out. Sleep drives one’s overall health and well-being. It’s what restores us at night so we can be our best, most productive selves tomorrow. With five kids depending on me, a house to co-manage and a business to run, I need to make sure I wake up every morning as my most productive self!

I thought my sleep patterns were fairly good, but they truly changed for the better when we switched to a Sleep Number® bed this past November. I can’t even begin to tell you how much better my full night sleep got after switching.

I’m one of those people who used to wake up repeatedly throughout the night, but never really thought anything of it. I would wake up 3 or 4 times throughout the night, just sort of tossing and turning. I thought it was a normal thing that everyone did. Then I slept on my Sleep Number bed for a night, and then 2 and then a week and then a month and I realized (quickly!) I hadn’t been sleeping on the right mattress. What I love about Sleep Number is that they are dedicated to providing solutions that offer quality sleep. I love that quality sleep is not just about laying down and closing your eyes, it’s about making sure that your full night’s sleep is one that is full, deep and restful.

Sleep Number is a sleep innovation leader. They created a bed that allows couples to choose their individual comfort on each side of the bed. In fact, the Sleep Number bed was named best bed for couples by a leading consumer magazine. When you think about it, it just makes perfect sense. Why would my sleep comfort be the same as my 6’3”, 250 pound husband? I’m 5 feet and 120 pounds! He’s hot at night, I’m cold. He needs a firm mattress, I need something softer. He needs one pillow, I need two. Just like we need different sizes in clothing and prefer different options in foods and drinks, we have completely different sleep preferences and needs. Only Sleep Number beds have DualAir™ technology that allows you to adjust to the support your body needs.

Sleep Number beds also have SleepIQ® technology that gives you the knowledge to adjust for your best sleep. It’s like having the magic remote, you adjust to whatever works best for you and your body. It’s like Jetson sleeping, but only it’s for real! Sensors work directly with Advanced DualAir technology inside your Sleep Number bed and measure your average breathing rate, your average heart rate, your movement and your bed presence to show you the quality of your sleep.

Seeing your stats the next morning, it’s mind-boggling. You see everything that occurred throughout the night and you can make changes to help give yourself the best sleep possible. I have truly become an expert in my own sleep patterns thanks to the SleepIQ technology. And let me add, it couldn’t be easier to use.

Your babies are beautiful. My daughter has 5 and her 5th one was a girl. She’s 7 now, going on 30.
We have talked about the Sleep Number bed for years now so I enjoyed reading your review. I was not aware of the SleepIQ technology! That is a really cool feature. Headed over to their website to learn more. We are due a new mattress now.

Ah sleep, I can tell you that since the time changeI haven’t slept very well at all.
It normally takes about a week or so for my body to correct itself and then I am ok.
I have four kids of my own I am very familiar with broken sleep patterns. It doesn’t get any better when they move out either! LOL!!

My parents have a Sleep Number and they love it! I have insomnia and with good ol’ daylight savings time, it sure does not help. On top of that I have four stepkids – two college aged who live with us, so I admit I spend some nights worrying when they decide to go out with their friends! Always great to have a bed to sink in into that just makes you drift away and go, “Ahhhh”!

Sleep is very important and I never realized how much my bed was affecting my quality of sleep. We bought a new adjustable bed when we moved and it has made a tremendous difference. I have always wanted a Sleep Number and it will be on my wish list until we can afford it. Getting a good night’s sleep is more than just the number of hours you sleep.

Love the stats they show you in the morning! I feel like I sleep pretty well but this makes me question if my sleep could be even better…that’s great you saw such an improvement. I would love to try this.

We got a new mattress, but I don’t really like it. It felt nice in the store, but it could be better. I would love to upgrade to a sleep number soon.

We got a new bed a few years ago and I don’t remember why we didn’t get a Sleep Number bed, but we didn’t. I find myself wishing we had from time to time! I love that they show you the stats and you actually get information about your sleep habits!

I have been tracking my sleep with my fitness tracker and it is CRAZY what I learned. I sleep very lightly and I think that’s why I’m so tired during the day. I had to change pillows to help me feel more rested, and I hope we can upgrade our mattress soon!
