How to Make: Spicy Hoisin Shrimp

Spicy Hoisin Shrimp
I wanted to share with you a really easy and fast dinner. I’m all about quick and easy meals on week nights; particularly ones that are NOT chicken nuggets. Between homework, making lunches and sporting commitments it gets really hectic during the week. The great thing about shrimp is that it is basically done in under 6 minutes. That’s it. It may look fancy, but it’s not. You can totally do this.

How to Make: Spicy Hoisin Shrimp


1.5 lbs raw, deveined, shrimp (thawed if you use frozen raw shrimp)
¼ cup hoisin sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
3 tsp low sodium soy sauce
2-3 tsp sriracha (depending on how much heat you prefer)
Sesame seeds and scallions to garnish

Spicy Hoisin Shrimp

I start by making the sauce. Whisk together the hoisin, vinegar, soy, and sriracha then set it aside.

Star preparing your shrimp. I like to rinse them off and pat them dry. Sprinkle then with a little salt and pepper. Put approximately a tablespoon of olive oil in sauté pan and heat to medium heat.

Put your shrimp in. 2-3 minutes per side. They should turn pink and no longer have the translucent look. You don’t want over-cook them.

Simply toss the shrimp with the sauce and sprinkle them with some sesame seeds and scallions (green onion).

It’s incredibly delicious. You’ll stop buying take-out.
