Day 27 ~ 31 Haiku in Search of a Voice ~
Blooming Daffodils,
“Come, follow us,” they whisper
In golden voices.
The Daffodil is by far one of my favorite flowers. One of the first little peeks of Spring, the word Daffodil means new-comer and the Daffodil is said to symbolize chivalry and great reward. But mostly I love the Daffodil’s bright yellow color and sunburst design with its trumpet-like call to Spring! This little bunch of gems is growing in our back yard, sneaking under the fence into our neighbor’s yard, child-like, carefree & happy, almost like running to play hide-and-seek. I saw a Haiku in Search of a Voice! Daffodils always make my heart sing and remind me of one of my favorite poems – I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud – by 19th century English poet William Wordsworth, a poem I loved to teach. The poem’s last 2 lines say: And then my heart with pleasure fills,/And dances with the daffodils. Yes, Daffodils are great rewards and gifts of Spring!
