Ben's 1st Communion - Stylish Life for Moms

On Saturday we celebrated Ben’s 1st Communion.

It was a BEAUTIFUL DAY, very special for Ben. He was nervous the morning of because he didn’t want to (as he said) “mess up on anything.” He was designated to bring one of the gifts up to the priest during mass, and he was taking that role very seriously. My heart just throbbed for him because he really wanted to nail it, it was adorable.

Here’s the thing with Ben… over the last 2 years, his older brothers William and Alex have made their 1st Communions. William and Alex both accepted reading roles during the masses, but Ben… he had zero interest in reading. He was so worried that his teacher was going to make him read because William and Alex had before. When he found out he didn’t have to, it was like a weight had been taken off of his shoulders. When he said he would take one of the gifts up, it surprised me and made me proud that he was doing something a little extra because I know how apprehensive he was beforehand (I’m hoping his 2 brothers didn’t make him feel pressured!).

One thing, I couldn’t get over how grown up he looked all day. My “little Ben” in his blazer and button down.

And what he was most worried about doing, he did beautifully. It made me cry to see him be such a “big boy” and walk up there in front of everyone with his head held high. I loved it.
