It’s been a VERY long winter in Rhode Island. The temperatures have hit rock bottom. There’s been snowfall after snowfall after snowfall. There’s been 6 snow days since January 1st for my sons. I don’t think we’ve actually seen a patch of grass since 2014 at my house. It’s just been brutal. There’s no leaving the house without hats, gloves, scarves, puffer jackets and warm boots.
Winter, you’ve absolutely, positively done me and my family in.
Ever since I was a little girl, regardless of how cold the winters got for me… whenever St. Patrick’s Day arrived, I always knew SPRING wasn’t too far behind. St. Patrick’s Day has been the “gold at the end of the rainbow” for me in terms of getting me excited for warmer weather and the spring season ahead!
This year, I thought it would be fun to celebrate SPRING with my family! It’s time to put away the snow boots. Time to pack away the sleds. Time to hide the shovels. Oh, yes — time to get excited for playing outside, gardening, bike rides, tree climbing, picnics, running outside and warm weather!
Pyrex®, a World Kitchen brand is going to help me celebrate!! Oh yes, with Pyrex glassware products I am going to create delicious, happy and fun snacks for my family!! Nothing makes my children happier than cupcakes!! I thought it would be fun to bake some special cupcakes for them and have them help me decorate them with bright happy SPRING colors!!
Pyrex is celebrating their 100th Anniversary Celebration this year and I love knowing that they have been part of my kitchen throughout my mom years of baking and cooking.

So as we are kicking off a toast and celebration to Pyrex, I will also be kicking off a toast and celebration to the SPRING SEASON!! Cupcakes are special to me because I remember as a child my mom baking cupcakes for me and my sister on special occasions. My mom would always take the time to decorate the extra special for us and really do such a beautiful job. It would always mean the world to me. I want my children to feel the same way with me… and Pyrex is helping me make that happen!
I had a blast making my “famous” cupcakes for the boys and Victoria. She hung on my hip the whole time I was baking, it was adorable. She kept saying, “Cuppa-Cake!” Made the boys laugh!
When they were all done and ready to be decorated, I took my small Pyrex containers and turned the plain white icing into fun, bright SPRING colors – green, yellow, pink and blue!
The boys had such a fun time creating special SPRING creations! They laughed and made a mess and joked around and just had a total BLAST!!! It was exactly how I was hoping it would be for them!!
I even took a cupcake and decorated one, too! 🙂
This was such a fun thing to do with them… even though we’re expecting another 2 inches of SNOW tonight!! LOL… it made the whole experience even more fun and exciting!!
