My 4 sons are big into swimming. It’s an individual sport. It’s a sport that not everyone does. It’s the kind of sport that requires hours of training. The tough thing about a sport like swimming is that you’re training in a pool, by yourself, only listening to the swishing and splashing of the water. In order to keep pushing yourself to do good, you need to dig deep and have that something-extra in your bones, in your heart, in your gut. And you have to have a good coach.
Running is very much like swimming. It’s an individual sport that requires all the blood, sweat and tears that it takes to win.
I’m always looking for movies to bring my children to that will inspire them. When I was a girl, I remember watching the Rocky movies with my 2 older brothers. They left me breathless because this guy just wouldn’t give it. Same with the Karate Kid. There was a deep love and yearning to do well and to never give up on yourself or life.
I feel McFarland, USA will have the same kind of impact on children. I’ve read the stories behind the actual real-life story of McFarland, USA and they leave me speechless. It’s a story that is so inspirational, you feel it in your bones. It gives you goosebumps.
I cannot wait for February 20th so I can bring my boys!!
In the meantime, I wanted to share with you this great new featurette including never-before-seen interviews with the cast and filmmakers for Disney’s MCFARLAND, USA. It’s incredible.
