Paddington Interview with Nicole Kidman – $25 GIFT CARD GIVEAWAY and BEAR

I’ve been a fan of Paddington since I was 8 years old. I’ll never forget the year “Santa” brought me my very own Paddington. That bear was a prized possession for me. My mother still has it somewhere at her home with all of my special childhood toys.

I’ve also been a fan of Nicole Kidman for years. She’s one of those iconic actresses that just truly moves you in the movies she makes. You can tell she puts all of herself into a role and as a movie-goer I love and appreciate that immensely.

When I heard Nicole Kidman was starring in Paddington, I was thrilled!

From the beloved novels by Michael Bond and producer David Heyman (HARRY POTTER), PADDINGTON tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear (voiced by Ben Whishaw) who travels to the city in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family who read the label around his neck that says “Please look after this bear. Thank you.” and offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist.

When I found out she was playing the villain in Paddington, I was even more intrigued to see how she would play this role.

She was – in a word – SUPERB!

Paddington is the perfect family movie because you can bring everyone and all will enjoy. As a mom, I love movies like this because it’s a wonderful way to do family things together. When we saw this movie together, my kids sat there mesmerized. They absolutely loved the movie. They absolutely fell in love with Paddington. And they got to see one of my favorite actress’ perform… Nicole Kidman!

I had a HUGE special treat last night, I had the chance to hop on a call with 4 other of my blogging friends and ask Nicole Kidman some questions. She was so gracious with her time and really was funny and honest and just completely at ease with all of us.

I’m excited to share the transcript from last night from my questions with Nicole…

Audrey: Thank you so much for hopping on. I had two quick questions for you. And one of my questions was asked by one of the other moms, so I’m going to just kind of tweak it a little bit.
But, this is such a great family film. And Paddington is so iconic especially for us as the parents growing up with Paddington.

Ms. Nicole Kidman: Yes.

Audrey: You have the parents and the children in the theater together. As someone who brought this film to life as a character, what are you hoping that we’ll leave with our families feeling? With our children and also as parents, as an actress, what do you hope when we leave we feel?

Ms. Nicole Kidman: I mean, I make all sorts of genres. I make films that are disturbing. I’ve made films that are very adult. I sort of seek out all different areas of life.
But, there’s something incredibly gratifying about doing a movie that makes people laugh and also makes people feel closer. And I think that’s what Paddington does. And my mom, who’s 74, sat on Christmas Day with my six year old and my four year old and watched the same movie. And they all laughed and enjoyed it and came out closer.
And that’s incredible. I haven’t had that before in my career. So–.

Audrey: –Right–.

Ms. Nicole Kidman: –I’m 47 years old and that’s a first for me. To have the grandmother and her granddaughters watching a film together and bonding that way is beautiful.

Audrey: Oh, yes that is. That’s absolutely beautiful. It’s wonderful. With all that’s going on too in the world–.

Ms. Nicole Kidman: –Yes–.

Audrey: –It’s wonderful to have movies like this that bond families.

Ms. Nicole Kidman: Yes. Usually you promote a movie and then that’s it. And it comes out and it’s over.
But, for me, this movie is very special and so I keep wanting people to see it. So, that’s why I keep talking about it and wanting to tell people about it.

Audrey: I love it.

Ms. Nicole Kidman: For that, I say thank you to you guys for doing this, ’cause it just helps, you know?

Audrey: Absolutely. Oh, thank you.

And then, one quick question. A focus on my blog is style, and you are also a fashion icon. What’s like your go-to mom outfit? I mean, as Nicole Kidman, what is your go-to, just mom outfit, just hanging out with the kids?

Ms. Nicole Kidman: Well–.

Audrey: –I bet you’re in sweats–.

Ms. Nicole Kidman: –My favorite kind of t-shirts and sweatpants and everything James Perse. I don’t know if you know of that brand. I put on flip-flops and James Perse, and that’s my easiest thing to wear because it’s soft and comfortable. And my kids can climb all over me and I can still play with them.
When I go out at night with my husband, I used to be far more like, “I’m going to get really dressed up.” Now I’m just far more real about comfort.
But, I still try on a Valentino dress, like I just tried on the most beautiful Valentino dress. I have to go to Berlin to do the Berlin Film Festival. And it took my breath away.
So, I still have the opportunity to put one of those dresses on. And it’s very rare. It’s either when I go to the Oscars or a film festival, and that’s about it. But, it’s still beautiful to have access to being able to wear them, you know?

Audrey: Absolutely.

Ms. Nicole Kidman: And then you give them back.

Audrey: Thank you so much.

It was definitely a PINCH ME MOMENT!

    I thought the movie was the worst for young children- Nicole shoots the bear and he falls like dead down the stairs so she then whips out her knife set! All the kids on the theater were crying and screaming- very disappointing since we expected cute and adorable-

    Paddington Bear originally came from Peru where he and was orphaned when he was just a few weeks old. He then went to live in London with Browns who made him apart of the family. Paddington is, by nature, a very helpful bear and so he does a lot of work for charities. The Paddington Bear has inspired thirteen novels that have been written about him and his adventures and he has just filmed his first movie.
