Bikes & Shadows… head outside and catch a shadow with your kids!
I’ve loved bike riding since I can remember.
I remember my first bike. It was a hand-me down bike, but it was brand new to me… (yes, this is me in 1959!)
I remember my first “big-girl” bike, the one I got on my 9th birthday; the one for which I had my own license plate. I still have it…
My bikes have always given me freedom, fresh air, FUN – whether riding down the street to meet my friends or cycling 56 miles in a 70.3 Ironman…
And my bike gives me one more thing ~ SHADOWS!
The shadows come to me sometimes L—O—N—G, sometimes short, sometimes TALL, sometimes FuZzY.
I still can’t decide whether I go in search of my shadows or they come in search of me.
But if there’s a sun in the sky to wash over me and my bike, there’s a shadow to be cast.
In the most free, fresh & FUN ways imaginable…
And every once-in-awhile, a shadow appears in such a real, lovely way, that I must stop to say hello.
As I was riding along the road in my local park at sunset, my eye caught my shadow riding along with me… framed by the long grass and reeds at the side of the grass and running path. Of course, I stopped to greet her!
Go in search of shadows.
Or let them find you!
