What I Wore Wednesday is a feature I do every Wednesday with my BFF and partner, Vera Sweeney!
Today I’m talking about shirtdresses because this is what I’m wearing right now!
If there’s one item you need in your closet this summer and moving into the fall, it’s a shirtdress.
A shirtdress is a style of dress which borrows details from a man’s shirt. These can include a collar, a button front, or cuffed sleeves. Often, these dresses are made up in crisp fabrics like cotton or silk. A shirtdress is typically cut without a seam at the waist, making these dresses have a looser fit, usually relying on a belt to define the waist. Button fronts and a forgiving fit make this a flattering look for most body types.
I just bought my very first shirtdress this past weekend while I was at The Scoop in Denver with CAbi clothing. I loved the green color. I loved the subtle pattern. I loved the fabric of jersey cotton. I loved everything about it. My only hesitation was that I didn’t quite know how to style it. I didn’t want to wear it the same way over and over and over again. Thank goodness I was at The Scoop in Denver because I was able to see all different ways to style and rock a shirtdress!
How to Style a Shirtdress – Here are 4 Different Ways to Style a Shirtdress.
My shirtdress is from the CAbi clothing collection. If you’re interested in clothing from CAbi, learn how to make a purchase here.
1) Add a chunky, thick belt to help create a waist mark.
2) Add a scarf/tie around your waist to help create a waist mark and leggings with flats. You get a laid-back and relaxed look.
3) Unbutton the shirtdress and wear over a basic pair of jeans and white tank.
4) Unbutton the shirtdress and wear over a little black dress, add some heels for a more dressed-up look.
Enjoy your SHIRTDRESS!
