Ziploc® Fresh 180 Challenge #3: Getting Organized

I’m kicking off my 3rd challenge with the Ziploc® Fresh 180 program, and this time around, it’s all about my house. The Ziploc® Fresh 180 Challenge is helping people find fun and simple ways to make healthier lifestyle choices for themselves and their families. It’s all about making a positive difference in someone’s life and I love that about this program. The Ziploc® challenges have been keeping me healthy and accountable in the eating department, but now they’re going to keep me organized, too. It’s a dream come true!

I’m one of those moms that loves to save everything special from my kids.

I mean, everything.

With 5 kids, you can imagine the amount of stuff I have kept throughout the years. I have drawings, report cards, school papers, tests, birthday cards, photos, letters from family/friends, etc. My children will have tons of stuff to remember their childhood someday when I’m old and gray!

Don’t even get me started on special clothing!

When I had William, Alex, Ben and Henry… the cool thing was that I was able to hand-down clothes from boy-to-boy, but I always saved and had special clothing for each boy. My mother has a tradition with my children where she gives them monogrammed jammies for their birthday and as Christmas gifts. So literally… I have 9 years of jammies saved. It’s a keepsake for me for them. I know that someday they will look back and go, “I fit into that?” Maybe their children and wives will get a kick out of it! I really have had a blast storing everything away for them. I haven’t saved anything beyond jammies and first shoes, but I know they will love the thought of it all someday (I hope).

But with my daughter?

With my first girl after 4 boys?

Yeah, her wardrobe is out of control… and I mean that in a VERY good way. This is the first time in my life where I’ve had the chance to spoil a little girl with dresses and tutus and cute little onesies and jeans! I’m telling you, I have truly has the time of my life dressing Victoria. It actually makes me sad when she grows out of things because I’ve had so much fun picking things out for her.

She’s just transitioning into 12-18 month clothing right now, but her drawers are filled to the brim with 6-12 month clothing. When I say filled to the brim, I mean I can hardly close them – no joke! My husband laughs and says, “Does she really need 6 pairs of different colored skinny jeans?” Yes. Yes, she does. ☺

My sister is planning on having more children (we’re done!), so she’s asked me to save all the girl clothes for her daughter-to-be-someday. I love it because I know the clothing will go to someone special and I’ve had so much fun buying all these clothes, I know my sister will appreciate for her daughter. My sister doesn’t have much space in her house to store all these clothes for a baby-to-be-someday, so I’m going to try my best to store them in the most concise and organized way.

Inspired by my Ziploc® Fresh 180 challenge – I wanted to see if the Ziploc® brand Space Bag® could help me store all of the 6-12 month clothing in Victoria’s drawers. ALSO, I added in the 0-6 month clothing I’ve had hidden in her bottom dresser drawers!

This was the best way for me to take care of all of the clothing without making myself crazy and having to purchase bins and bins to put somewhere. I can’t even think about adding bins into my attic or into Victoria’s closet—there is no space anywhere!

And just like that – everything is stored!

It was super easy to fit everything in and it made the process very organized. I know my sister will appreciate everything, but most important – I know she won’t be overwhelmed by the storing process because it’s a Ziploc brand Space Bag® and it can easily be stored anywhere.

Now – here’s to hoping she has a baby girl someday!
