Last week I got to take Victoria to the city for an event. It was her first real, non infant trip to New York and I was really excited. I threw the new Quinny Buzz Xtra in the back and off we went. It was my first time using it and had I properly planned, I would have adjusted the straps before we hit the road. Fortunately they were easy to adjust and I wasn’t fumbling on the sidewalk wrestling straps!
The Quinny Buzz Xtra is easy to unfold, also important when you’re juggling a baby (or toddler), a diaper bag, mom’s purse, a camera, etc. It unfolds in seconds with a single push of a button. Usually I have the baby in one arm while I grab the Buzz Xtra and hit the button with the other. It releases and it’s open and ready to go in a snap. Nothing’s worse than fighting to open a stroller, especially when the parking attendant is tapping his foot and a row of cars is lining up behind you waiting to get into the lot.
We parked a few blocks from the event so we had to traverse the urban jungle and quickly, because we were running late. The big all-terrain wheels did well hopping curbs, riding over uneven sidewalks and dodging dog treats! It was designed with young urban parents in mind and it fit right in. People love the look of the stroller, we always get complements.
After the event we looked around for a bite to eat and spotted Tao under the Maritime Hotel. Sadly it was closed for a private function. I asked the bouncer if we could crash, he pointed at Victoria and said, “She’d probably stick out!” Obviously! I thought about making a run for it, but we decided to hit Chelsea Marketplace across the street. I used to work there way back when so it was nice to take a stroll down memory lane.
After dinner it was back in the car to head back home. I’m sure she dreamed about the city on the drive, she was out before we hit the GWB!
