Finagling a photo of grandkids. Wow.

Finagling a photo of grandkids…

If anyone doesn’t already know this, kids are active, funny, wonderfully entertaining and yes, even a bit famous for foolery.

But put 8 cousins together and amplify these adjectives up a few hundred notches.

Take this past Saturday evening, when Barry and I were able to finagle 2 of our 4 children (Jane and Adam), 2 of our 4 in-law children (Matt and Brian), and 8 of our 10 grandkids for an impromptu early evening dinner at Duffy’s Tavern in North Kingstown, RI. Duffy’s is big and open and perfect for kids AND has an incredible menu, including its famous 10 cents peel & eat shrimp.  Yes, I said 10 cents.  I’ll jump ahead a bit here to say that we collectively ordered and devoured 130 shrimp for $13.00, among other fabulous menu items…

But this has nothing to do with finagling a photo of grandkids, does it?

And I like to take photos.

SO.

I began with these 2 guys, Jake and William, whose birthdays are 3 months, 5 days apart (Jake is 9 right now and William will be turning 9 soon).  “OK, guys, how ’bout a nice smile,” I asked.

Take one-

Take two-

Take 3-

Take 4-

Take 5-

There they are. My handsome guys!

My little Grandma secret is that I never, ever delete “takes” like 1 – 4.  These are the moments I cherish – the active, funny, wonderfully entertaining and yes, even a bit of famous foolery. These are life’s moments. These are cousin love and just plain comfortable love love.

(Then later, in some vortex of photographic nirvana alignment, I was able to get all 8 of these grandkids in ONE TAKE. What!?  Must mean that tummies were full!)…

Love those awesomely silly kids! It wouldn’t be a grandkids photo without all the “takes” it takes to get one. 😉

You know I love your family… but I love that you keep the outtakes, too. I look back on all the funny faces I get in between the beaming smiles and some of them are what perfect looks like… smeared food on the cheek or eyes rolling back and a face of laughter. These are the moments- they are so blessed you are there to catch and save them all <3

I agree with Chelley – I love that you keep the outtakes! I am so tempted to delete them because I’m always hitting my storage capacity but you’re right, some of my favorite kiddo pics are the random ones when they’re making silly faces or funny expressions.
