Renovation Series: Creating a DREAM Closet with EasyClosets #2

Working with EasyClosets was such a wonderful partnership for me.  I’ve been itching to do something with the closet space upstairs and it truly was just the most perfect match for us.  We wanted to do it ourselves, but we also wanted to have some professional help, EasyClosets provides both.

We decided to take the smallest bedroom upstairs and transform it into a closet for me and all of my clothes, accessories and shoes.  I’m going to be honest here, this has ALWAYS been my dream… so to see it start to come together, there were many times I needed to pinch myself. It was FINALLY time to turn this tiny room, which had inevitably turned into a “holding space” for all of our extra items upstairs.  I think that’s the problem with areas in your house not in use, you end up just “dumping” items in there as storage… this was exactly what this room had turned into.  The thought of finally having this space as a closet and putting it to good use… ahhh… I couldn’t wait!

(Believe me, I got approval from ALL the boys before I went ahead with this!)

The first step in getting this Dream Closet space going for me was to create the space with EasyClosets.  I had a “vision” of what I wanted, but in order to put that vision to reality, I needed a little bit of help.  I’m good… but I’m not that good at explaining what my dream would be for the closet.

What I loved right off the bat about the process with EasyClosets was that I could design a layout myself OR I would get help designing it.  I first opted for trying to create a space all on my own with the design tool on EasyClosets.com.  Before I even started, I needed to make sure I measured – as accurately as possible, the layout of the bedroom we were turning into my closet.  I had my husband measure every inch of the room, 2 times, just so we could make sure we had accurate measurements.  EasyClosets makes it easy by showing what you need to measure, and this helps tremendously.

After we measured… it was time to have some DESIGN FUN! 🙂

One thing I did on my own prior to heading to the design tool was perusing the gallery of closets on EasyClosets’. It was beyond helpful seeing what other people had created and how different spaces and layouts had turned out.

When I went back to the design tool, it was easier for me to really start to craft together what it was I needed and wanted. I got about 50% done with creating a space via the design tool, but I’m going to be honest… I knew I needed professional help from EasyClosets. I knew I needed someone who knew what they were doing to guide me, so I was able to get paired up with an expert from EasyClosets. I was matched up with
an expert from EasyClosets named Denise… and she literally guided me through the WHOLE design process.

What I appreciated was the questions Denise asked me:

Are there any obstacles in the room that we should be aware of (outlets, etc)?
How many hanging racks are absolutely needed?
How much shelf space do you think you’ll need?
How many shoes do you have?
What are your biggest needs in the closet?

These questions helped me so much because I hadn’t stopped to think about the exact about of shelf space I would need or how many shoe racks I would need. It made so much sense to take an inventory, so that when the design was being made, it would have everything I needed in the space.

Denise then went along (after I sent her my answers) and helped me take the design I had made and transform it into EXACTLY what I needed, all from the design tool. It was absolutely amazing to see her send me back the final design. It was exactly what I needed and wanted.

After we had gone ahead and given the final OK to the design, we were READY to place our order with EasyClosets!

The process was easy, convenient, practical and doable.
