Curtains and Wall Hangings: Making Our House A Home

I mentioned the other day that, after living in our house for a year and a half, Brian and I finally put curtains up in our bedroom. After we did that, and saw how it really changed the ambiance of the room, it made us want to put curtains up in the rest of our house, too.

Problem is, we procrastinate with that sort of thing. So this week, my parents came over to help us get it done. (And by “help” I mean “they did it all.” They are truly awesome.)

While they were here, they helped put up some framed photos: one of me and Brian from our wedding, taken by Oggi Photography, and a few of the dogs that I’ve been meaning to hang for THREE YEARS. I had dog portraits done with an amazing photographer, Julie Furtado, back in 2010, when our Sethy Boy was still alive. So now the portraits of Seth, Ryder and Tansy are hanging up. Of course, we adopted Jethro in the meantime, so we now have to get a portrait of our baby boy so he can hang with the rest of the pups.

Here are some photos of the new curtains and wall hangings, which make our house feel so much more like a home now – thanks, Mom and Dad!

(I took these photos on my iPhone, and between that and the angle of the light coming in the windows, it made it tough to get really nice photos. Hopefully you get the idea!)

We’ve been in our house almost nine years and I still haven’t finished. There are even boxes in the basement that we never unpacked! So I applaud your parents for sweeping in and helping you settle into your home. (And I love the “Talk to the Paw” sign too!)

Um, we have photos from the past 6 years we still need to frame. Let’s keep motivating each other. The house looks great Jane.

It took us FOREVER to get our pictures hung in our “old” house. Now that we are moving, I can’t even imagine how long it’s going to take for us to get them up!! Love the photos and the sign … and your parents are amazing!! xo
