Mother’s Day Wish!

Mother’s Day.

It’s a day when all of the boys in my house (husband included) treat me like a total queen for the day. In all honesty, I’m a very lucky mama and wife, they treat me like a queen all the time, but on Mother’s Day, it’s a little extra-extra and I love it.

My boys always do things for me around the house when it comes to Mother’s Day. They have things that they do for me, and I’ll tell you what, I LOVE them for it… especially since I’m pregnant, and the things that I can do are just getting more and more difficult to do with a preggers belly!

This Mother’s Day, I can see my husband helping me do one thing in particular, one thing that’s very special for me…helping me decorate and prepare for our daughter’s arrival.

After having 4 sons, expecting a baby girl has been the ultimate surprise and delight. There’s just so much that needs to get done before she’s here, and it’s something that’s beginning to stress me out and I don’t want to be stressed out.

So… this Mother’s Day I’m enlisting my guys’ help in getting a few things done before Victoria gets here:

Clear out the spare bedroom
Paint the walls pink (this may take a day or two)
Clean surfaces – I like to use something that is antibacterial like Windex® Touch-up Cleaner
Set-up Victoria’s crib and wipe it down
Hang curtains
Add the bedding to her crib
Hang the photos and frames we have purchased
Put her clothing away in the dressers

For me, this is a true labor of love…pun intended. I can’t wait to see her room decorated from top to bottom in pink and really allow the feeling that she’s coming to sink in. Right now we just have boxes of stuff everywhere and it’s something that I’m really excited about setting up, I just can’t do it by myself. I also have a few additional ideas of ways to make her room more personalized for her. I created framed collages of our family to hang in her room. There are five of them – one of me and my husband, and then one for each of her brothers. I want her surrounded with love. They absolutely need a good wipe down and clean because they are SO dusty and the glass on the frames has gotten dirty, so I’m relying on Windex® Touch-up Cleaner to help me get everything ready.

For me, this would be the ultimate way to celebrate Mother’s Day 2013. It’s been a journey to get here and I thought getting everything ready and set-up together on Mother’s Day would be a lot of fun and a wonderful way to celebrate. By doing it all together, we’ll save time and it will be a great way to bond and get even more excited for her arrival!

Have fun getting ready for Victoria!

I wipe as I go… which means after I wash & dry my hands I use the damp paper towels (we don’t use hand towels in my house, they gross me out! 🙂 ) I wipe the counter. In the bath room it helps with the hairspray residue and I wipe down the edge of the tube. It makes it easier to get the first layer off before my weekly cleaning with clearer.

My cleaning tip is that I outsource it… we have a wonderful housekeeper who comes once every other week and thank goodness for her, even in our small 2BR apartment! We take out the trash and run the dishwasher but she handles the heavy scrubbing.

Clean as you go! Especially with two boys, four and under and two puppies this is the key. It makes it so much more manageable. Then, I take just one day to really focus and deep clean.

As the mess is being made, I try to clean it up before it becomes a “stain” on my furniture. It is also nice to get help from my husband to keep up with the everyday messes that happen.
