From the mouths of babes…

Wisdom from the mouths of babes…

Tuesday afternoon, my daughter Audrey and her husband Matthew invited me to accompany their family to the place where their wedding reception was held, Blithewold Mansion in Bristol, RI, just about 12 years ago… to show their 4 boys a beautiful piece of their love and history.

Blithewold just happened to be celebrating Daffodil Days, and Daffodils just happen to be one of my favorite flowers.

The boys are boys, of course, and they found Blithewold a perfect place to run and romp on the expansive grounds.  They hid in the bamboo patch.  They tossed coins into the fountains and giggled at the nymph statues.  The jumped from tree stumps carved like chairs.  The found giant rocks to climb upon…

They took turns borrowing my camera to catch “awesome” photos…

But by far, the most lovely photo of the day, at the most lovely place, came with a great bit of wisdom from my 6-year old grandson, Benjamin…

With Ben’s finger in the frame, pointing my camera at the very definition of Daffodil Days, Ben said to me, “Grandma, can you smell the view?”

My heart melted at Ben’s great sense, thought and wisdom.

Yes, I did smell the view.

And Ben and I stopped to smell the flowers and the view…
