My grandmother turned 88 years old yesterday.

88 years old!

That’s a lot of living!

My grandmother is my last living grandparent, my mom’s mom… and I have always had a very special bond with her. My grandmother is a huge shining light in my life, she always has been. Last night we celebrated with her at Olive Garden with my family, my sister and her husband and my parents. We had a wonderful time, we celebrated my grandma BIG TIME!

The one thing I love about my grandma is watching her with my sons. It’s a beautiful thing and they love her and she loves them so very much. I can tell she quite literally lights up when she sees them, I saw it yesterday throughout our whole meal. The beauty is… my sons love her just as much right back. They shower her with hugs and kisses and make her feel important and loved and cared for… something that means so much to her.

Watching your grandparents get older is bittersweet. I look at my grandmother and I PRAY that when I’m 88 years old someday, I look like her! She’s a ball of fire and still a true fashionista. And as we were celebrating her and watching her blowout the candles on her cake, a piece of my heart ached… this is my grandma, getting one year older… and I just want her to live forever and ever and ever.
