“Mommy and Me” Holiday Cooking & Keeping my Soft and Smooth with @VaselineBrand Plus a #Giveaway!

My sons and I LOVE to cook throughout the holidays and winter months.

There’s something very soothing and peaceful about being in my kitchen with my sons and baking something very special.  I used to bake with my Nana and my mother when I was a little girl and I have the most endearing memories of that time.  It made me love to bake and made me realize what a gigantic smile a delicious plate of cookies or brownies or cupcakes could bring.

I just LOVE sharing these memories with my own sons.

As you know, I have been working with Vaseline.  As soon as they told me they were doing a winter campaign, I jumped at the chance to work with them because Vaseline has literally been saving my hands since I was a little girl, too! As part of the Vaseline winter fun, they wanted  me to choose a winter activity that I love to do with my family.  When I saw that cooking was one of them, I knew it would be perfect for the McClelland Family.  We literally start holiday baking right before Thanksgiving and will continuously do it through Valentine’s Day.  We bake for our neighbors, for our family and for our friends.

Believe me, I was up for the Vaseline Baking Activity with my sons!  And to kick off the beginning of our activity, they sent us an adorable package to get us inspired:

Snowman stripe vintage-inspired apron (for me!)

Holiday cookie making set

Snowman oven mitts

Snowman spatulas

And Vaseline Intensive Rescue Repairing Moisture Lotion to help our dry skin

My sons absolutely LOVE the Snowman spatulas, especially with ALL the snow on the ground right now!

I mentioned this in my last Vaseline post, but my hands (as well as my son William’s) ALWAYS get cracked and red and chapped in the wintertime.  It’s embarrassing, but it’s something we’ve become used to and ready for, and the thing that people often forget is that it’s not just the weather that does it… it’s the constant hand-washing that causes the chapped hands to keep cracking. When I’m baking with the boys, I make them wash their hands about 3 times!  Before we start, after cracking the eggs and then after.  You don’t want your hands chapped or cracked AT ALL throughout the winter months, especially not bothering you during something as fun as baking.

Vaseline Intensive Rescue lotion has been keeping my hands soft and smooth throughout this whole season.  It’s a miracle worker on my hands, it works instantly to moisturize and heal dry skin in just one use.

Vaseline Intensive Rescue lotion helped make baking with my sons an enjoyable and memorable experience and memory because I wasn’t worrying about my hands (nor was William!). I was able to enjoy every aspect of our baking… even the eating! 🙂

It’s amazing when you stop and think just how much chapped and cracked hands can affect your life. To know that there’s something you can do to arm yourself against any pain and keep your hands soft for holding hands, mixing batter and giving hugs… it’s pretty awesome.

Thanks Vaseline!

Vaseline Intensive Care lotion is the only one our family uses. It enables me to cuddle my baby grandson without any worries of my dry, cracked skin scratching him. I always use Vaseline Intensive Care lotion as a stocking stuffer at Christmas!

I thought I was the only person to experience this kind of “dry hand syndrome” to this degree! My hands crack and bleed every winter, and it *is* embarrassing; it is quite noticeable, and I often get comments on them. (Yes, hand-washing makes it worse, which is quite the conundrum to have during flu season!) I presently slather on plain old Vaseline at night before bed, which helps to restore moisture and heal the cracking overnight, but during the days I’ve been at a loss for what to do; so many of the lotions I’ve tried have made my hands hurt and crack more, due to their ingredients. I look forward to trying these other Vaseline products. Then I could resume winter baking as well; I am a wash-three-times baker myself, and…well… ouch!
