Dog Birthday Party

Dog Birthday Party – I don’t have kids, so for me – my dogs are my kids. They truly are my everything. Someday I would like kids, but for now – my pups fill that void. Yesterday we celebrated our dog Ryder’s 11th birthday! 11 years old!! I can’t believe it!!! She won’t turn 11 until Wednesday, January 30, but we wanted to have a little party at our house over the weekend so our family could come. Her Dog Birthday Party means a lot to me because Ryder has been a huge part of my life for the last 11 years. She’s been through it all with me and I love her so much.

Dog Birthday Party

I had two awesome dogs throughout my childhood and into my 20’s… they sparked my love for dogs and were the best doggy brothers a girl could ask for. We never had a dog birthday party for them when we were little. We celebrated the day we got them, but it wasn’t anything like I do for my doggies right now with Brian.

Ryder, though, is my first baby – the first dog about whom I could say, “I’m her Mama.” I got Ryder when she was 7 weeks old, shortly after one of my childhood dogs, Carmel, passed away (our other dog, Cracker, had died a year earlier). Ryder was a little black bundle of fur, joy and love. She was the cutest little pup ever! She literally fit right in my hand when we first got her! I just fell in love instantly!!

When I got her I was 21 years old and still in college, so we have been through many milestones, many memories and many (many) moves together. Through it all, we’ve always been that one constant in each other’s lives. I love her so much it hurts sometimes. So that’s why it makes me so happy that Brian goes along with my crazy need to throw birthday parties for our dogs (he’s just as obsessed with them as I am). And I’m so grateful that both of our families join in without blinking an eye (although, my nephew Alex did inform me that: “You’re the only person I know who throws birthday parties for dogs.”) ๐Ÿ™‚

And you know what? I don’t care if I’m the only one who throws a Dog Birthday Party for her pup! My whole entire family comes and supports me, which I love. They know how much Ryder has been through with me and they go along with it too! ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy 11th Birthday, Ryder! Here’s to many, many, many more! And thank you to my family for coming out to celebrate with us! It means the world to me and to Brian! They never ask questions, they just come ready to party and have some family fun with me!

What a sweet pup! Happy birthday Ryder! I am glad I am not the only dog-mom that celebrates their birthdays. Have you ever gotten a dog cake from Gracie’s Gourmet Goodies? My friend Liz is the owner and my dogs love her cakes and treats! ๐Ÿ™‚

Aww! Happy Birthday Ryder! I love this post! My mom was single until she was 43 had a dog named Mickey the whole time before she got married and had kids, Mickey was no longer around by the time I came along but I grew up feeling how much my mom had loved Mickey, and to this day I have an attachment to photos and paintings of him it’s kind of funny.

Happy Birthday!! We would take our old dog to the ice cream parlor on his birthday every year for some vanilla soft serve.

Aw, you know if Luxray has a birthday party, I am going to come to you for planning! I didn’t grow up with dogs, but watching my kids come alive with our new furry boy makes me so happy. I know that they will always have pets in their lives, just like I did. And you should celebrate that joy!

Happy birthday, Ryder! You’re as beautiful and full of puppy-ness as ever!
You are a wonderful puppy mom. We are obsessed with our dogs in my family and I LOVE meeting other people who would sell their most prized possessions to care for these wonderful furry family members.
