41 Resolutions for 2013 Everyone Should Do

2013.

A New Year.

A New You.

A New Beginning.

I’ve always loved a New Year because I’ve always viewed it as the beginning of a new story.  And it’s the questions and the unknowns that make up the magic of a New Year.

What will the New Year bring? Who will I become this year? What will I discover?

And with every New Year comes new resolutions and new dreams and new goals.  2012 was a tough year for me and my family.  We kicked off 2012 on a high note, and then just 29 days later… my husband was in the hospital getting a tumor removed from his abdomen. I can honestly say, I’ve embraced life tighter and bolder because of that experience. And all resolutions and goals I would have made exactly a year ago, well… mine are a little different now. It was viewing up close and personal how fragile and precious life is, and it’s made me a different person, a different version of myself… a better version.

Here are my (new) 41 Resolutions for 2013:

1) Belly laugh every single day. Find SOMETHING or SOMEONE who will help you do this.

2) Look my husband in the eye every morning and say, “I love you” – even with the craziness of 4 boys and life around us.

3) Hold hands with my husband with every chance I get.

4) Volunteer at my sons’ school whenever I get the chance.

5) Technology goes off from dinnertime till bedtime for the boys.

6) Stop watching meaningless TV.

7) Donate clothing, toys, household items that we just don’t use. Eliminate the clutter. Get rid of it and bring peace to our home!

8) TRAVEL

9) Institute a GAME NIGHT with my family for every Friday night.

10) Cook more at home so I can have complete control over what goes into my body and my family’s bodies.

11) Spend more time with my mom and dad.

12) Never be afraid of going vocalizing my dreams and goals.

13) Teach my children exactly what it is that I do for a living… sometimes when I say “blogger” they just look at me and scratch their heads. 🙂

14) Be (extra) smart with money this year.

15) Stop and smell the roses.

16) Start a journal… one that’s not viewable for the public.

17) Work hard and play harder.

18) Cut down on Facebook time.

19) Only work with GOOD, trustworthy people.

20) Know where it is I want to go with work, and GO there.

21) Actually frame photos of the boys and hang them around the house.

22) Start working out consistently, even if that means a simple walk around the block.

23) Set up more playdates for my sons, they just LOVE them.

24) Go on a weekend vacation and leave my laptop at home.

25) Show my sons that I actually DO know how to swim.

26) Call my Grandmother once a week, just to check in.

27) Surprise my sons after school with an ice cream sundae day! 🙂

28) Have the boys start helping with chores around the house, I think it’s time. 🙂

29) Re-paint the rooms I’ve been wanting to re-paint for years. A fresh new look is always fun.

30) Wear more bold colors this year.

31) Remember to embrace the days of nothing, the ordinary days. These days are the most precious days of all.

32) Stop and embrace the coziness of knowing the boys are asleep in their rooms.

33) Create a vision board.

34) Take a cooking class with my husband.

35) Teach my oldest 2 sons how to shoot video and take photos.

36) Go to church regularly.

37) Send love notes to my husband.

38) Take my vitamins.

39) Dare to dream REALLY big.

40) Clear one day each month and make it a nothing day. No plans, no running around. Just nice and easy.

41) Send more snail mail.
