Daily Diary: A Special Night with Grandpa

When I was a little girl, my parents would do “special nights” with me and my siblings.

Once a month they would take one of us out to dinner and then for a fun activity.

The best part was, it was JUST one of us.

Each of us would have 3 special night’s a year and we would ALL look forward to them like crazy.  I remember I went to Annie (the play once), bowling, min-golf, swimming, etc!  We got to pick anything we wanted to do (within reason!) and we would have out parent’s undivided attention for a whole night. It was SO VERY special.

Well… my parents have started doing it with my own sons and I LOVE it.

Tonight was Ben’s turn.  My father had tickets to the Providence College basketball game and asked if one of the boy’s wanted to go… Ben JUMPED at the chance.  So… at 5:30, my mother picked him up to meet my father at a local restaurant and then off to a basketball game they went!

When Ben came home he told me he had, “OH! SO much FUN!”

It brought me back.

And I felt so happy sending him off and then seeing him home!
