Daily Diary: I survived CAMPING.

I can cross camping off my list.

I did it.

And I had a TON of fun doing it (I swear, I did).

We had good company. We had good weather. The kids were with friends. We had layers and layers of blankets and clothing and my North Face jacket. We made s’mores. We played games with the kids. We grilled and chowed on chips and chips and chips! We had a Keurig on the premise. The adults even got some alone time after the kids went to bed. All was good in the world. It was a wonderful, wonderful time (I can’t believe I’m saying this).

But what did it for me the most – this morning, as we were all waking up, my son William came over to me and whispered in my ear, “Thanks for coming camping with us mom, I love you.”

Talk about love. As much as camping was COMPLETELY out of my comfort zone and I would have killed for a TV, lights and INTERNET… it was worth every second after hearing that from my son. They really wanted me there and part of it all.

Here are some photos from the camping trip!

Oh, yes.

I survived.

And don’t tell my kids this quite yet… but I’ll totally do it again (although next time I’m bringing a space heater and air-mattresses).

If there weren’t photographic evidence, I’d call you a liar. I’ll have to respectfully disagree with your statement that camping was “COMPLETELY out of my comfort zone.” I’ll refer you to the mound of comforts (picture 2) you brought to the campsite. I’ve never seen so many “essentials.” I’m coming with you. Keurig???? Jeff makes “cowboy coffee.”
