Daily Diary: 10 Reasons Why I’m Not a Good Camper

Today’s the BIG day.

Camping.

It’s been on the books for 2 weeks, and it’s here. Mama mia!

As I’ve been helping my husband pack for the one-night camping adventure, outside in a tent… I’ve begun to quickly realize exactly why I’m NOT a good camper. I went camping as a kid a few times, but mostly because I had 2 older brothers who loved to camp and it was sort of a family obligation… I was too young to stay home alone while everyone else went!

As a mom of 4 BOYS… I’ve also begun to realize (quickly!) that there are things they are dying to do that just aren’t on my bucket list. But you know what? I’ve just got to suck it up. And suck it up BIG TIME.

My poor husband has been listening to my camping questions and (not-so-pleasant) comments about the upcoming adventure… truthfully there are reasons why I’m not a fan of camping. It’s not just something I’m not willing to do or try, it’s just that… well, I don’t think I’ll be a good camper.

Here are 10 Reasons Why I’m Not a Good Camper:

1. I don’t like the thought of sleeping on the ground (even in a tent). My husband doesn’t believe in bringing air mattresses camping because “that’s not really camping” in his eyes.

2. I don’t like the dark. Pretty plain and simple.

3. I hate bugs.

4. Oh, and I hate snakes.

5. I need the INTERNET.

6. I like being able to walk to the bathroom without a flashlight and coat.

7. I like to take a shower without dropping in quarters.

8. I don’t like being paranoid with random animals sounds throughout the night.

9. I love electricity.

10. Did I mention there’s no INTERNET?

But… I’m going to do it.

And I’m going to have fun for my sons!

After all, if we had 4 girls, I know my husband would be smiling away at a ballet recital. 🙂
