P&G Everyday Resolution – New Baby or Not?

My P&G everyday resolution today is kind of a personal one. I’m making the commitment to think seriously about having another baby. Do we do it or not? That seems to be the question. I can’t believe I’m putting that out there. It feels good. 🙂 We had our 4 sons all within 3 1/2 years. It was (literally) back to back to back to back. When I found out I was pregnant with our Henry, I remember thinking, “How are we going to do this?” And the beauty of life is that we did it, we just figured out a way to make it work.

We had 4 cribs.
We had 4 strollers.
We had 4 carseats.
We had 4 different sizes of Pampers® Diapers.

Thinking back now, I’m still scratching my head how we did it. And truthfully, we did it well. We didn’t have time to freak out or worry or get overwhelmed, we were constantly in motion. Parenthood for me and my husband is the best thing in the world, we feel blessed to have these 4 little men in our life. The funny thing is that I always tell people, this is our version of normal. I don’t know any other way so it’s not even hard for me to gauge it. I don’t have 1 child or 10, I have 4… so for me, this is my only normal. This is what I know and I love and I’m used to every single day of my life.

So the question now becomes — do we did it again? P&G Everyday Resolution – New Baby or Not? This is not a simple question. This is a question that requires some thought and I can’t make on my own!

I’m making the resolution to think about it and think seriously about it. We’ve always gone back and forth on the topic of “another baby.” It’s always been one of those things that has been in the back of our minds, but we’ve just never really had the conversation about it before. In my mind I kept thinking, “I’m going to wait until Henry is older.” Well… Henry’s 4 years old. How much longer am I going to wait? LOL… time is ticking away! It’s not easy. You start to see time ticking by very quickly and before you know it, it’s gone in a flash!

I don’t feel pressure to do it within a certain time frame, I just don’t want to raise a child that is so much younger than his or her siblings. My boys are all so close in age, they’re like a perfect little pack. I think that’s why I’ve delayed it so long… I just never knew if it would be a good move to have a child farther in age from the boys. I was the one who decided to have kids so close in age and I would really feel bad for a new little one to come in and not have the bond with the older brothers. Boy or girl, I would feel bad.

But then I get that feeling. That tugging at my heart, and I just know it’s something I need to talk to my husband about. We were with my sister-in-law recently and I bought her packs of Pampers® for her baby-girl-to-be. Seeing the Pampers®, well… my heart melted. When I had my son William in NYC back in 2004 at Lenox Hill Hospital, the nurse handed me a Pampers® diaper, a tiny little one made for newborns. It was the cutest thing I had ever seen. I used Pampers® on William from that day forward, never used anything else. Pampers® were my go-to, they were my staple among the masses of everything “baby” in our home. And seeing them all over again a few weeks ago, it stirred something in me.

With P&G Resolution – they are inspiring me to think it out!  It’s time to have that conversation. I’m making the resolution to have it. And with that statement, I’m actually giddy inside. WHAT!? Did I just say it? Is this really going to actually happen for us? I know my husband always said, “You’re not done yet. I can tell.” Whenever I’m around another baby I light up! It’s all I talk about and think about after we leave the baby. I’ve often wondered though – will this feeling ever go away? Will this always be the feeling I’m feeling?

So let me ask you this – Are you making a P&G Everyday Resolution?

Regardless of what we decide to do, it warms my heart to think about it, and that’s a beautiful thing. It’s inspiring and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Can you please write some more about how you do it all so well? I have 2 angel boys (20 months and 3) and between being wife, mom and working girl – I am so frazzled and exhausted. Can barely keep my house together. You look so fabulous all the time and your boys are adorable!!! Please share. I am sorry for hogging this post – wasn’t sure where else to reply.

Oh, Jamie… thank you, but when my boys were that young, I was the SAME WAY! I had a 3 inch root in my hair, hairy legs, exhausted, irritable and my house was a MESS!!! It gets easier with time, I promise. And when all else fails, email me and vent away!!! xoxo Audrey
