I’m honoring the teachers who embrace my sons today

My P&G everyday resolution today is to honor the teachers in my sons’ lives.

I have been very blessed this year with my sons having the most amazing, incredible and sensational teachers. I get very emotional when I think about their teachers because they have become such an important part of my sons’ lives.

When my husband got sick this past January and February, all of my sons’ teachers (preschool, kindergarten and 1st grade) embraced our family like we were family. It still gives me goosebumps. Food was prepared for me and the boys. Babysitting was offered to me for the boys so I could be at the hospital. Special homework packets were sent home. It was the most amazing thing to have that support and love from my sons’ teachers, it just meant the world to me.

Growing up the daughter of 2 teachers, I’ve always known how much time and effort and work goes into creating a curriculum, a classroom and keeping up with the constant school work. I also know that many of the activities and projects that the boys’ have had this year have come out of the pocket from the teachers’ themselves. I just have felt very blessed and very appreciative throughout the year for these wonderful ladies.

So today my P&G everyday resolution is to sit down and write them a thank you letter. It’s funny because as a blogger, I’m not used to sitting down with pen and paper and writing a thank you. I’m used to a quick tweet. I’m used to a blog post. I’m used to a Facebook status update. I’m used to anything and everything social media driven.

A thank you note?

Oh, no. This needs to be special, unique and from my heart on paper.

I needed to give myself the time to do this. I knew if I just didn’t commit to it, it wouldn’t get done. I feel so good that I gave myself this time to put my thoughts to paper. I just want them to know truly how much they have meant to us. And mostly, I want them to know that their love of their students doesn’t go unnoticed.

What can you do that will make someone feel special and important?

The heartfelt, hand written letter is something the boys teachers will treasure. I have kept letters written to me 15 years ago because they touched me so.
