There are moments when I will see my children and think to myself, “God… he’s such a Couto!” I think that’s one of the craziest things about being a parent, you truly start to see (actually see) yourself in your children. Not only in appearance, but in mannerisms, too. I see it every single day.

People usually tell me that William looks like Matt. Alexander looks like my father. Benjamin looks like Matthew. And Henry… my little Henry looks like me.

That’s usually how it goes.

Yesterday as I was working in the kitchen, Alex came downstairs all dressed in his “work clothes” to help Matt put up a fence in our backyard. As he was turning the corner, I was “hit” with a wave of, “OMG… he looks JUST like Matt!”

He literally looks (to me) right here like a mini-Matt. The hair. The eyes. The smile. The stance. Everything.

Honestly. It took my breath away. My “little” big man.
