Brushing with the Oral-B ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 5000 with SmartGuide

I’ll be honest, I hate brushing. It’s the last thing I want to do when I wake up and the last thing I feel like doing before I go to bed. My family can attest, I’m not a morning person. It takes a while for me to feel human and on top of it, I’m in a rush trying to get the boys ready for school. Two minutes set aside for brushing seems like an eternity! When night time rolls around, I usually stay up too late and just want to crawl into bed. Needless to say it’s hard teaching my kids good oral hygiene when they have to remind me that it hasn’t been two minutes yet!

Dentist appointments are good, but not great. I feel like they spend too much time picking at plaque. I’m not sure if it’s more than other people, I tend to not hang out watching people get their teeth cleaned, but I always feel like it could have gone better. The hygienist usually lets me know that they sell the Oral-B ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 5000 with SmartGuide, and I usually roll my eyes feeling like they’re trying to sell me something I don’t really need. Besides, they always give me a free toothbrush anyhow!

Last week I had the opportunity to try out the Oral-B ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 5000 with SmartGuide. I was reluctant at first, I’ve used a power toothbrush before and to be honest, I didn’t like it. I felt like the head was too small and my teeth weren’t getting very clean. Unpacking the Oral-B seemed different. There were a bunch of different parts in the box and I was excited as I took them out and got it ready. I even read the directions, something I usually skip, but I wanted to make sure I was using it the right way.

I have to say, so far I really like the Oral-B power toothbrush, especially the SmartGuide. I’ve found out that I use too much pressure when I brush (it has a built in sensor that lights up with a frown), who knew? I figured the harder I press the better. Probably explains the bow in my regular toothbrush! The SmartGuide also has a timer so I know I’m hitting my two minutes and better yet, it will give me an indication every thirty seconds to let me know it’s time to move to another quadrant of my mouth. I never thought about my teeth in sections before!

The Oral-B ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 5000 with SmartGuide also came with a travel case, which was perfect because I traveled to Pittsburgh this weekend for my sister’s baby shower. It was a good feeling throwing it in my bag knowing that when I pulled it out there wasn’t going to be crud stuck to it, or that it wasn’t going to be getting acquainted with my socks and underwear.

Needless to say, I’m really excited to continue brushing with it. Never thought I’d say that!
