Confessions of a Scary Mommy Book Signing

I’m not a flyer. Never have been, probably never will be. I’m just like that.

So… last August when I was sitting in the San Diego airport ready to head back home after BlogHer and noticed my friends Amy Bair and Jill Smokler sitting at the same Southwest gate, I felt a little bit more at peace. I wouldn’t be alone.

I boarded first, and tried my best to save seats for Amy and Jill… fortunately, there was success!

Now… I didn’t know Jill too well at the time. I knew “of” Jill, but other than reading her blog and following her on Twitter, we didn’t know each other too, too well.

Let me put it to you this way, the 3 of us chatted our way from San Diego to D.C. without missing a beat! We laughed. We chatted. We powwowed. We bonded. Simply put, we were just 3 girls having a blast over the USA.

I loved these girls after this flight.

So… when I heard that Jill was going to be in my neck of the woods for her book signing (literally 5 minutes from my house!), I JUMPED at the chance to see her and attend. We ended up having a Rhode Island Mom Blog dinner before the signing at Carrabba’s where 15 of us all met up and toasted Jill!!

It was such a fun night!!

I couldn’t agree with you more about Scary Mommy. I’m a child psychologist so it goes without saying that I have TONS of parenting books (and believe me, there are a lot out there). However, this is the one book that no mother should go without. It’s the only one that really tells the truth about motherhood. Check out my review if you’d like:
