When Matt and I first got married, we were living in NYC in a small studio apartment. No joke, the apartment was about 100 square feet. There was just enough room for a bed, a bureau and a book shelf. We were both working entry level jobs and just covering our expenses. I remember thinking at that time… “Why are we living here?” But it was NYC… we were 20-something… and we felt we had to try it out.

When it came to buying our furniture – bed, mattress, bureau and book shelf – we went as cheap as we could. I traded in my dorm furniture (plastic bins), for “real life” furniture. We knew we wouldn’t be in his one place forever, so we purposely decided to just get the bare minimum. We didn’t want to spend a lot of money on anything, well… at least for our apartment. We wanted to spend our money on NYC – restaurants, taxi cabs, clothing, bars and theaters!

Well, those days are over.

Fast forward 10 years. We’re living in the suburbs of Rhode Island with 4 young boys, working together. We’re at the ages (33 and 37) where anything we purchase or bring into this house, we want it to last. Gone are the days of going cheap for cheap’s sake, especially when it comes to buying furniture.

I’ve teamed up with Cardi’s Furniture to test drive one of their INCREDIBLE iComfort Serta mattresses. We thought it would be fun to put together a video series… why we were interested, what we hope to get out of a new mattress and what’s so incredibly amazing about the iComfort mattress.
