I (heart) Carmine’s in NYC

When I lived in NYC, I worked on 39th and 7th. Right in Times Square. I felt like the luckiest woman in the world to be working in the heart of NYC. Not only are there incredible shops and theaters left and right, but there’s fantastic restaurants. Honestly, we’re talking the kind of restaurants where once you take a bite from one of their dishes, they leave an impression.

Carmine’s was always like that to me. Carmine’s is right on 44st and Broadway and we used to have all of our work lunches there. It’s family style, so you’d go in and just feast (like a pig) on pasta dishes galore. It was insanely incredible. Whenever I have the chance to get to Carmine’s, I do it. We tried to bring the boys there a few months ago, but the wait was over an hour, so we decided to ditch that plan.

But… last night was a different story.

Vera and I finished up our meetings and were FAMISHED. We needed food like a dog needs a bone. Our hotel was 2 blocks from Carmine’s so we (literally) ran there hoping there wouldn’t be a long line. And guess what? There wasn’t.

And so… hello penne alla vodka…

Even our waiter got into the fun with us because we were so (ridiculously) excited to be there!

Ahh… love me some Carmine’s!

    When I was on a trip to Paris a few month’s ago I went to restaurant “dans le noir”, where you eat in total darkness, it was really a different experience to tell the truth !!! They just opened up in NYC, it’s worth trying…..

    I was there for their opening (Upper West Side location) because I knew one of the owners and then spent many, many, many, many nights there – my best friend and I knew all the bartenders and got VIP treatment – can you say garlic! They used to have someone that’s sole job was to cut the garlic!!! Made me miss NYC when I saw this

    I worked in midtown for years and loved stopping by Carmine’s for calamari, caesar salad & a glass (or two) of chianti. Looking forward to squeezing in a visit this summer when I’m in town for Blogher.

    One more hint; when in Newport before the summer gets crazy;
    Mamma louisa (romantic)
    lucia’s (nothing fancy, but great food)
    Both on Thames.
