I’ve never been more tuned into my life or my relationship with Matt than I have been over the last 4 weeks. He is my soul mate. There’s really know doubt about it.
I met Matt when I was 20 years old, and the second I met him… I knew I was going to marry “this guy.” I don’t know how I knew, but I just did. I even remember being in the kitchen of my house in October of 1998 and begging my mother to let me go to his house for Thanksgiving that year. She was adamant about me not going and I was adamant about me going. I remember saying to her, “But I’m going to marry this guy.”
And I did.
Lucky for me, he fell as head over heels for me, as I was for him.
I’ve always made Matt watch romance movies with me throughout the 15 years that we’ve been together. I’m a sucker for a happily-ever-after. Always has been, always will be. But I saw something tonight on Pinterest that really struck me, and I wanted to share it (because it’s so damn true)…
Because I really know that ours was… and is.
One of the best things that got me through the last 4 weeks was remembering the first day we met. It still gives me chills and goosebumps and makes my heart pitter-patter. Always remember your love story… it’s always there. And it’s always really freaking GOOD! 🙂
So true, Audrey. My love story with Wes is equally as strong. He is my best friend and I am proud that so many of our friends and family look to our nearly 22-year marriage as the model. Great post.
Thank you Audrey, always a good reminder, and so true. I had always believed in the “soul mate” theory, but when I was nearing thirty thought maybe I had it wrong and you just needed to find someone compatible and make it work. Then I met my husband, and like you, I knew right away I’d found my soul mate!
Love this!! What a great reminder! Thanks for sharing.
This is very true. My Matt and I met right before I turned 21. He has been by my side for every birthday since then…even throwing me a surprise 40th last week! Through all of our ups and downs we have been each other’s very favorite people. Marriage is special. God takes two very different people and melds them into one cohesive unit!
