Ziploc Fresh Over: My History with Ziploc

My history with Ziploc spans over 25 years.

I was always a cold lunch girl.  Kindergarten through my senior year of high school, my mom and dad made my lunch.  There was always a sandwich (usually a PBJ), 2 “fun” snacks and a fruit. Every single day. It’s funny to think back because I do the same thing with William’s lunch for school.

My food was always stored in a Ziploc Brand Bag. Always. Lunch was simply just not sent in anything else.  Every week my mom and dad would stock up on new bags, and I have to admit, I used to love sealing them. It was always so cool to see the colors change when you sealed it tight. Funny how a memory like that, even now…can make you smile. My mother used to always store leftovers in Ziploc Brand Bags because they were easier to fit in our fridge than the bowls she served them in. I’ll never forget that, she was the only mom I knew that did that…I do that now, too.

And now, with my own sons, I have continued the Ziploc tradition. My William is also a cold lunch boy.  He’s a picky eater, so I have to make sure everything in his lunch is stuff he’ll actually eat. I feel like the only lunch constant in his lunch life is the Ziploc Brand Bags. But literally, from the time my sons first started to eat, I stored everything in them – crackers, Goldfish, cereal and bread.  They’re easy, convenient, kid-friendly and durable… just what a mom needs.

As I’ve gotten older, my relationship with Ziploc Brand has changed. They’ve become more than just food storage for me, they’ve become storage for anything-that-will-fit. I’m not kidding, with all the travel I do, they are my go-to toiletry bags – toothbrush, toothpaste, hair elastic, makeup and all my jewelry. I also store all my makeup in my bathroom in Ziploc Brand Bags, they’re contained neatly and I can see right through the baggies and pull what I need.

You might recall I announced last month that I’m beginning a partnership with Ziploc Brand this year for the Great American FreshOver Project and I’m so excited to get started by eating more fresh foods! Rachael Ray is also part of the project and she’ll be sharing her tips about finding ways to incorporate fresh ingredients into your everyday meals on the Ziploc Facebook page. Together they have given America’s favorite foods a “freshness makeover” and I’m excited to try them out on my family and share my experience in the kitchen with you. Ziploc Brand is also supporting Rachael’s charity – Yum-O! So check out the Facebook page and follow along over the as I start my FreshOver journey and I encourage you to begin yours, too!

What are your memories with Ziploc and what do you use it for now?

*I have partnered with Ziploc® and am being compensated for my posts. However, my opinions on the product are my own.
