Check out my RED VELOUR… from top to bottom. (Hence, the title of this post.)
As the final project of my 365 Days of Literacy for Kids, I decided to read-aloud a holiday or winter book each day during the month of December 2011. I call this project “READ-IT-AGAIN!” December because kids love books read again and again and again, and clicking replay allows an instant read-again!
I excitedly headed to my town library, East Greenwich, RI Free Library, and set about the work (great pleasure, really) of selecting 31 picture books/stories that kids will love and maybe learn something new from, too.
As I got more and more excited and completely into these last 31 days of 365 Days… especially with winter settling in all around me and holidays to prepare for and the anticipation of reading all of these books aloud, I wanted to celebrate in a BIG WAY. A COLORFUL WAY. A BOLD WAY.
SO WHY NOT A BIG, BOLD, COLORFUL RED WAY!
A RED VELOUR OUTFIT KIND OF WAY! (with spike slouch black boots, of course.)
My RED VELOUR reminds me of what Mrs. Claus may relax in while reading magical books about winter and snow and her very busy husband.
My RED VELOUR is very reminiscent of my late mother-in-law Flo at Christmas-time because NanaFlo wore lots of RED and RED VELOUR in particular, and I honor her with the fun of it all…
As a matter of fact, I bought RED VELOUR zippered tops for my 2 daughters and my 2 daughters-in-law to bring all the joy of NanaFlo to each home for the holidays…
… and how could I not include the men in my family?
Because RED is fun for our 9 grandkids, too!
And I think BIG, BOLD, COLORFUL RED is a warm & wonderful color for kids to enjoy.
Especially top to bottom while reading beautiful, delightful, meaningful and very funny picture books, too, to kids!
Oh ho-ho-ho… I’m gettin’ kinda used to it, too!
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS POST! Only YOU can pull off a Red Velour outfit like that. Funny, I have on a grey velour jogging suit today…Don’t you just love the feel of it? Your family oozes love, excitement and joy. I can feel the love on that couch from all the grandkids. This post makes me want to go out and get me a RED VELOUR outfit. See what Nana Flo started?
Oh, Rhonda… you make me smile, laugh and love you more! Yes, go get that red velour suit! There’s nothing quite like one! HO-HO-HO! xo!
