Daily Diary: 5 Things To Do On Christmas Vacation When You’re Stuck At Home

This week the boys are off of school for their Holiday Break. That’s right — 10 days off of school. During the summer, it’s a no-brainer when they’re on break… we hit the pool or the beach and just bask/relax in the sun. During the winter, it’s a little different. We haven’t had a snowfall this December, so there’s no playing in the snow or snowman building or sledding. We haven’t introduced the boys to skiing yet, so we’re not hitting the slopes. We haven’t gotten them on ice skates yet (at least not all of them), so no hitting the rink.

Yup, it’s all about being home.

So… we needed to get a little creative this week. Because my sons have ZERO problem saying to me, “Mom… I have nothing to do and nothing to play with.” Which kills me as I point to all the toys Santa brought and the toys that they do have.

5 Things To Do on Christmas Vacation When You’re Stuck at Home:

1. BINGO! Yes, we’ve been playing BINGO every single day, multiple times. We’ve lost 2 of the “balls” – O-71 and B-5, so the only hang-up is that we need to use the cards without those numbers.

2. Pig Tails — I’ve never played this game before in my life, but I have to say… it’s a cute game. Ben and Henry are loving it. The game also takes about an hour to play.

3. Artist time! I am about as artistic as a brick. I cannot draw to save my life, but my sons – they got the McClelland-artist-gene. So we’ve been drawing things all week.

4. This while week Matt’s been renovating the basement. He’s turning 1/2 of it into his own office, it’s coming along awesome! So… that means there’s lots of left over wood pieces. William’s been doing some wood-working classes with Matt. He made a waterfall, rocket-blaster, duck pond and and out of wood already this week.

5. Play-Doh… oh, it’s the best past time on the planet for the boys. I lay newspaper underneath our table and just let them go-to-town! They mix all the colors, but I’ll tell you what – they’re having fun.
