Work Fashion: What to wear to work without wearing a suit

What to wear to work without wearing a suit

I’m not a lover of the suit. I feel like they’re stuffy, constricting and just not comfortable. But… when it comes to work attire, they are sometimes a necessary wardrobe choice.

Or are they?

I’ve had a ton of emails lately asking me to show some different work-wear looks that don’t include a suit. Seems I’m not alone in trying to ditch the blazer/trouser matching set. It’s not that I don’t own a suit, I actually do. It’s just that, well… if you know my personality, I’m not really a “suit girl.” So… I have tailored my work-attire choices accordingly.

I’m going to share with you 5 looks that you can wear to work without having to wear a suit.

First up… Black trousers with a silk blouse…

*I love this look because it’s classic and it’s professional. Black trousers are a staple that every working woman should have in her closet because they simply go with everything. Pair them with a fabulous mid-heel and gorgeous blouse and you’re perfect! Accessories? I would suggest bold-colored necklace.

Next up… Beige on top, beige on the bottom…

*This is an easy look to capture and is a wonderful outfit for work. It’s relaxed, yet it’s professional. I love the look of beige on beige, it’s very captivating to me. I paired it with a leopard flat to make it pop a but for work, but you could always go with a black flat. As moms, it’s very easy to have clothing in our closets that can be worn monochromatically… it’s my go-to style.

Next we have… Gray on Gray…

*This look is so polished! I love going with a different color when it comes to the monochromatic style. You saw the beige above, now I’m going with gray. See how you can easily put these looks together? I feel like that’s what it’s all about — work wear that’s professional, yet easy to accomplish. I think we get so geared towards suits because they’re easy and already put together for us… but look how gorgeous this outfit is? And… I tossed in a loafer with a heel!

Now we have… Sweater wrap with trousers…

*Sweater wraps should be a mom’s best friend. They are such a comfortable piece to own, but they also are one of the most versatile! I love this look because you have these gorgeous trousers pants, and I’ve paired with the sweater wrap. It’s a elegant look… simple, understated and professional. I could see wearing this on a Monday morning to work! (ahem… like today!)

Last we have… Trendy Black Monochromatic Style…

*This is my favorite look! I look a trendy pair of trouser pants and paired it with a very trendy silk blouse. I love the short sleeves on it, really adds to the trendy factor. Monochromatic is ALWAYS a safe way to go… it’s just easy. And I capped this look off with a nude heel… have a little fun with this look!

I pulled all of these looks from Polyvore.com… I love pulling items that you could easily find anywhere — silk blouses, black pants, gray pants, beige pants, beige sweaters, gray tops, etc.
